I would like to replace my motor and speed control on my Tower Hobies Vista EP sailplane with a brushless inrunner and ESC that will support a Lipo battery. Here is a link to the plane for details... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMUY1&P=V
Any recommendations on what HK motor and ESC would work best for this application? I am new to sailplanes and looking for a direct bolt in replacement if possible. Thanks in advance!!

Hmmm, well I also have a (now hanger queen) Vista EP and have often thought about going brushless with it...it's going to be a matter of doing research, my friend...dimensions, measurements, watts, all that. The Vista is a fairly heavy machine, so go big on motor Kvs'...I'd guesstimate at least a 2200 3S Nano-tech for batts...I'd say a minimum 20amp ESC...
It's almost gauranteed you're going to have to drill new holes in the firewall no matter what b/l motor you get, so be prepared for that....but it's no big deal. That having been said, you're going to save a ton of weight, which will certainly increase performance! It would be a fairly easy and inexpensive conversion... BTW, I did a super-cool mod to my ol' Vista...I added full-on spoilers! It was really easy to do and shortened the Vistas' incredibly long glide approach...highly recommended! G'luck! ~ Bud
