Hi guys,

I just got my HK quadcopter frame and assembled it. It's great, but I was wondering how I can stabilize the camera mount against movement (pitch). If I use a HK401b gyro, how should I set it up so that it will keep the camera mount level at all times? Do I need to modify the servo controlling the mount?

Thanks!

Try to mount it on one innoccuped chanel of your radio, and try to  adjust the movement with the lengh of the servo arm together with the gyro gain...
But, i guess you'll never be able to obtain a good result, such as with another board more strong/healthy like KK or Ardui-Wii.

From what I can tell tri/quad/hex copters fly level pretty much most of the time anyway.
So I don't really see any need to attempt to keep the camera 'level'.

As long as the camera is aimed correctly to start with, I don't think it would require it's own pan/tilt stabilizing.

Could always use a spare 'dial' channel to tilt the camera, from level to down. Down to look down when hovering looking for lost models in those darn long grass/reeds/corn/wheat fields!

Nick and Roll Compensation is  very important on a Quad because in most situations it is NOT   THAT stable, and always  ajusts  to  stay Level.
Also flying a Quuad ort Multirotor Craft also works by TILT into a certain Direction.
If the FC you  want to  use has no CameraCompensation outputs  go to www.multiwii.com and build the Setup using  a arduino pro mini, a  WiiMotionPlus PCB and the PCB  out of a Wii Numchuck to build your own stabilisation for a Gombal.
Its all explained there.

We  even   building ROll/Nick compensation for the AR Drone  right now  useing  MultiWii  Technology

Thanks wolfes! I've heard of some people making camera gimbals using 401b gyros and 360 degree servos. That's why I asked. I'll go have a look at the wiimotion setup and see what I can gather from that.
