Agree. I have probably 150+ orders unregistered (HK+others) and received every one. I don't like to go to the post office to get small parcels.

I've recently done the same, as I was in a hurry and didn't click for registered mail.

That was 27 days ago. Another parcel I ordered on the 22nd via registered airmail has already arrived here.

I appreciate it's not HK's fault, but it's annoying nonetheless. I agree that the option should be removed, or better yet, default to registered shipping so that you have to deliberately click the cheaper shipping to get it sent that way.
I'm here to help where I can- the sarcasm and insults are just a complimentary service I provide....

For me, spending the extra dollar for registered mail is just solid insurance in the event of a lost package. All it takes is one or two packages to get lost in the mail and if they were sent non registered you are out your money and your product. For me, i have never placed an order under $20 with HK so $1 is well spent. However, I just placed a $40 order a couple of days ago and by mistake, clicked the wrong shipping method (International non registered airmail). If the package gets lost, then i am out my money, not to mention all the money i had saved on purchases over the past 6 months from HK (ouch). I just hope all goes well. I like the idea of a default selection of registered mail. I also think that if you choose non registered mail a warning window should pop up letting you know that no tracking info is available, and HK is not responsible for lost packages. This would have prevented my mistake.

I agree, if I order very low value items that I forget to put in bigger orders I always use unregistered. I'm never in when the post comes so I'd have to drive 7 miles to the postal depot (the diesel alone is sometimes more than the package is worth) to retrieve the items. I've got a lockable box the postie will leave unregistered items in so its a no brainer for me.
Where do you find a tortoise with no legs?

Right where you left him.

Which is fine old son - until the day the package is too big to fit in the slot (or he folds it so that it does)

Mail delivery must be different in the US. The postal carrier will leave a notice in the mailbox stating i have a package waiting. All i have to do is sign it, request redelivery, and in the comment section have him leave it at the front door. Then put the notice back in the mailbox. I know that the package has made it from China to my home town and if there is a problem it is much easier to track. I try to live by "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". I also look at how much my time is worth. With a tracking number, i make one call to the post office, file my claim, and i am done. I wonder how many calls are generated to HK and the post office trying to find a package without any tracking number? Not to mention all the frustration.

Over here the postie beats his way up the garden path and pushes small packages and letters in a slot on the front door. For larger ones he'll ring the bell and/or knock on the door

Depends on the size of the lockable box.
