Don't cut: remove the red wire from the plug with a needle, and put a bit of scotch adhesive.
That way allows you to re use that ESC with another plane after.
And tell us the result.
For me, i'm waiting for my FY9OQ...perhaps today...Wink

Have you experienced this? I removed the BEC part from a burned ESC and it consisted of four voltage regulators (7805) soldered directly in parallel. I don't understand why paralleling more of them should cause problems. Might be the case for some ESC's, but definitely not for others like the ones from Castle Creations.
In this case there is no benefit to use more then one, but where servos are involved, it is.

Framerate, mentioned earlier in this thread, is 200Hz according to my scope (5ms between pulses).

Has anyone come up with a tidy way of hooking up the juice to the 4 ESCs -within the confines of the HK Quad frame?

Too late, I already cut it but I cut in the middle so it's a simple soldering job to reconnect.
These escs will remain in that tricopter until they die anyway as it is a favorite aircraft.

Flew tonight and no flames, all is well.  Tongue

You can build what's called a Power Spider.  Here is a video (not mine) of how it's built.

I already built one and here are a few things to keep in mind

1. Take into consideration the size of your frame so you can make the cables going to the ESC's the proper length.
2. I would not use 16g wire to the ESC's as I don't think they will handle the amperage.  I went with all 12g wire.
3. If you're going to power up additional items from the main battery, such as lights, you can attach the appropriate wire to it.  I have a female JST cable hanging off of mine so i can run led lights.
4. The coaxial sealing tape he mentions in the video is also called Rubber Electric Tape.  I got a large roll of it for $9 from ACE hardware.

Dont rely on scotch tape to be an insulator. You pays your bills and thats fine but we all know what happens if that scotch tape fails.

Hey,
Ive made a custom style of frame based on some that I have seen online.
I have made the power distribution integrated into the frame. I will get some photos and try and upload them. Depending on what you have access to (hardware wise), it maybe something that you can build and integrate into the HK frame.
