How did you get it to CG correctly with such a heavy 5000 mah pack ??
I found that even my 2200 pack needed to be as far back as possible to avoid being too nose heavy

Hi Steve,

Because of the fiberglass, the tail was quite heavy. So, 5000 mAh was just fine when installed flush with the front of the battery tray.

By the way, I checked the stock motor of the Phoenix yesterday and it seems like (I've no way to take proper measurements) it is stronger than Turnigy 2826. I've added 2 degrees down and 2 degrees right thrust. I'll report on results next week.

Sorry Thumpyguy I've been very busy with the DIY Aqvarium stuff..

-had to find my Sample-booklets could not remember the names/codes

The "Light" one is called "651 intermediate Cal" -or that works best for planes as you can heat shrink/stretch it a bit.
You might even consider at MAT one, as air flows it better than on a super slick surface GLOSS.

But anything will do, the thickness does not differ much only how well the stretch/shrink.

LOL and yeah You wish was heard Wink - 260mm version.

This is a pretty good thread, Trumpy!  I am in the same boat as you, a flat lander and quite honestly I would like to see some more thermal sailplanes here on HK.  PS Anthony spoke about that kit you linked, said that the reviews weren't so good :(

Yeah I saw that Nifty Unhappy
So looks like the 2000 might get a guernsey for now , with the 2.6 to follow up later maybe LOL

( personally I think HK should send me a 2.6 for an unbiased review ) ..... yeah right LOL

Trumpy I honestly don't think it should be that hard for HK to standardize a 2.6m platform, maybe even get in some balsa and FG models.  I fell hard for the Binary on HK, properly trimmed and launched, the larger version could have been the answer.  A quick discus launch, up and out and watch her fly.

I still want Anthony to let me test an HK turbine (I have a sick twisted fantasy of strapping it to the top of my fiberglass ASW-28)
