In my boats using a Zenoah 23 , I used to use a small amount of woven stainless steel the type you get for washing up
"scrub buds over here is the brand name " they are large strands of stainless steel about 2-3mm wide woven in a mass . !!DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL !! . I used to Tease the woven steel out loosley and pack the baffles with it. I dont know if you could do that on an aircraft muffler though. Small loss of power but a lot quieter in noise sensitive areas. Edited by kanga - 16/Jun/2012 at 2:51pm |

Thanks guys,
i already used stainless steel wool in the muffler and it helps!! Here in The Netherlands we are not allowed to make more noise as 80 dB. Rgds Theo Edited by Dutko - 16/Jun/2012 at 5:03pm |

It's when sound becomes noise, the people start to complain

My J3 seems to not have any instructions. Could be I lost them. (You would NOT believe my workshop.) NO... really, you wouldn't. Anyway, does anyone have them scanned? I tried looking on HK but didn't find anything. And I've read every post here and see no one else has said they didn't get them, so assume I must be at fault. They say, as you get older, that you start to forget things. I don't remember if that's true......
I've been building over 50 years and can do this without them, but I always like to at least see what the manufacturer recommended. Thanks! Scott |

Hi Scott,
look to the J-3 of HK and scroll down to the price. A couple of lines under the price you see discusion/reviews/video's and then files. Look in this file and you see the manual!!! It's free to download. Rgds Theo Edited by Dutko - 01/Jul/2012 at 11:51pm |

I have about 10 flights up on the L4 now. It's going really well with the exception of the landing gear. I is not very durable and breaks easily. I am a pretty good lander in case you think I have thrashed it. No hard landings and I need to get my welder out and fix it. Great flyer, very big and great fun. I did some side slip approaches on the weekend. Very scale performance. It loves 1/3rd throttle on a 20cc gasser.
