OOoohh, that photo would be NICE to have a look at, might put my worries to rest (and help me pull the trigger on those wheels on ebay)!!
Sadly, photobucket says the image has been moved or deleted? Any ideas? |

Yes they probably are fine, but I'm with the other wheelies here, the Bush-look is kinda cool..
The 6" inflatable dubros might be a tad overkill for me though..will have to see.. One thing to note s that the wheels on the yellow J3 version looks waaay cheaper than the ones on your L-4, Snappy! Not sure why there are these little differences between the kits (referring to the wingspan difference), but it has me wondering what else there might be..will find out in a few days, it should be here shortly. |

Guys
The wheels in the kit are fine and because the undercarriage is functional it really absorbs the odd bumpy landing |

I'm as happy as a very happy sandboy.

. Something that's actualy heavier than the weight they charge you for shipping on. While that's realy nice of them and I fully understand the reasons why shipping weights are usualy higher than actual weight, to me with model planes, even these bigger ones the actual weight is the most important factor when choosing between similar items. They do give it with most things, I realy wish they did it with all components. Acurate weight that is, I've had a few things that were way off the stated weight.

I see your point, I also got lots of stuff I bought over the years that I don't really need anymore. The scale alloys are beautiful, but for some reason ALL sizes share a 65g shipping weight - lol.
The 4" alloy hub wheels I got are really ~78g/each, while the 5" plastic hub ones are ~98g/each. Both wheels are quite hard, I wish they were a lot softer. Edited by Dragevo - 07/Nov/2011 at 1:54pm |

I went off those 5 inch ones you linked to because they seem (going by comparative shipping weight) heavy and the first review mentioned they were fairly hard which is not what I want. I didn't realy look at the alloy wheels to be honest, I figured if I could find a decent sized one they'd be very heavy, expensive and look completely wrong for the job. I was wrong on most counts there. I'd like bigger but 4 inches isn't too bad. Going by the 65 gram shipping weight they're actualy surprisingly light. They wouldn't look right authenticity wise but they look so pretty I wouldn't care.
As for those ones I linked to I've only just ordered them this morning as a lightweight alternative but going by your experience they'll join all the other bit's and pieces I've ordered over the years that "seemed like a realy good idea at the time". It's going to be a while before I put another order in but those gorgeous alloys just might be included in it

Yes, those Dubros seems to be really nice. I got the 110mm foam wheels that you link to, they are too weak for a plane this size & weight - IMO (at least for *my* kind of landings, lol)
I also got these 5" wheels from HK, treaded & much stronger as well as good looking. Testfitted them to my beat-up 1/6 J3. Tire/rubber appears to be the same as(or very similar to)the scale alloy hub wheels sold here, both are bargains.
