Awesome build.  I'm really keen to hear how it flies.  Do you fly from grass, or a sealed surface?

A bit of both! Have a look above... I must say, I should have done some taxi'ing around first!!!

Oh well... Just minor damage! A pilot with greater skills would have been more successful!

Another thing, the AOA needs to be higher...

"F#$%k!  F#@%k!  You C^&$%T!"
Maaaate, I know exactly how you feel!  I was test flying my AMD Hawk a few weeks ago, and similarly used a road for a runway.  It would accelerate, then abruptly turn left and leave the road.  With each attempt I made it a bit further before this happened, resulting in more speed and therefore more damage.  The canopy is now all smashed up.  I've rebuilt it twice, and I'm yet to get it off the ground!  These heavy jets are awesome, but everything has to be spot-on for them to work!
Please post footage when you get her airborne.  Looks like you fly around Canberra?

Thanks for your post! In a way its comforting... :) (I know, I'd prefer you be airborne too!)

Another little trick a mate of mine came up with... The steering wheel should be bent backwards to be more of a drag wheel, sort of like the sprung fixed landing gears, this will maybe avoid the crazy steering...

Shame about the damage on yours.... I'm thinking of just ditching the landing gear and just go with the bungee system...

Just wondering, is your undercarriage sprung?

(nah its all in vic)

My undercarriage has suspension springs, but no castor (sweep back).  I also had springs on the pull-pull steering, which were the source of the poor steering authority.  I have since switched to a metal-gear high torque servo from HK, and directly linked the cables to the servo.

Yeah, its all good in theory the pull pull stuff.

Hmmmm, I hope you get better results than what I did.

So I filled the cavities, laid some FG matting, sanded the surfaces, bogged the lulls and MAYBE with a bit of luck I'll have this beast in the air off a bungee tomorrow.

We'll see what the weather brings.

Looking forward to seeing your maiden video on this one. I am thinking of ordering one.

Pitty about the first maiden.
Have you thought about limiting the travel on the steering wheel servo and putting plenty of expo on it? I 've done that on a couple of my EDFs that were very sensitive on steering input during takeoffs..

No I haven't done that, maybe I should have tried 1 more time with your method! :)

But it is too late now... Now it is just a matter of the weather to become fine here in sunny Melbourne! lol

Melbourne!

Just jump in the car when it's raining. By the time you arrive it will be sunny mate!
Sorry couldn't resist.

Try 60% expo on the steering. I found it works quite well.
