lotta fun for the price They are just plain cool to build and look at too! They are substantial and robust unlike most are used to in this hobby. I liken it to a rc truck that flies

I am sidelined with my build. Hobbyking did not include the motormount for my trike. I've tried sorting it out for weeks with them. and I still have no part or a assurance from them that I will get the part. I was in love with hobbykings low prices and cool store and had ordered thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Sad Im soured by a few cents worth of aluminum and I can't get them to send me one.

The esiest solution to this is to either bite the cost and re-order a new trike...(when they come in.) or even easier and cheaper is to make one out of wood. Simmply use 2 pieces of 3mm plywood and laminate 2 pieces together. pretty much the same thing you would make for a plane. slap some epoxy on it after its all done and it should be really strong and ready for anything.
Thats my idea. I really doubt that hobbyking would send you the replacement piece anytime soon because they dont even have the stock for the trike at the moment and they dont look like they will be selling any spare parts so i doubt they have access to replacement one off pieces.
Good luck.

2.4GHz and aluminium might not be the best combo, so I put my Rx on top. I used sleeves from some coax cable to protect the wires and keep them tidy and away from the outrunner.

Beauty Fred! Perfect set up...Motor mount looks fantastic!
However, there is no need for concern with RF blockage. Allum and 2.4 are fine ![]() My current trike has holes on the sides and I set my esc in the pod with antennas sticking out. I have flown very far and many many tens of hours and had no issues with RF blockage. Nice build! Thanks for the pics. |

Ohh, I see what you did. You should have mounted the motor to the cross mount, then mounted your cross mount to the plate. The holes would have lined up if your mount was not modified
![]() for what it is worth, I have flown this trike with a Scorpion 1200W motor mounted directly to the plate. It is plenty strong ![]() Edited by Beladog - 28/Mar/2011 at 4:13pm |

Well, almost, except for a couple of millimeters (of course!). Regarding brake lines. is half the stick travel used for "elevator"? In your setup thread, are the brake lines adjusted with stick in neutral position? That would mean that only half the servo travel is usable for steering/braking. Some mix settings advice would be great .Fred |

hey Fred!
Yeah its always seems a few mm off huh? ![]() The set up I use only uses 1/2 stick for flair or "elevator". This is more than enough...sometimes way too mich. I set up the arms at about a 30* angle just between the pod and base if that makes sense. Set the brakes with them in this position. Right and left will have full control, and when you want to stall or pull both brakes "flair" you pull the stick down (like up elevator) and the foil will collapse the rear edge and begin to drop. If your brakes are adjusted proper you will find about 1/2 of your 1/2 available throw is way more than you need for steep flairs. I have been meaning to finish the set up thread but have not received my trike yet so I am reluctant to use the one I have...its a bit different. I promise as soon as I get it it will be used for a really thorough plan set for all to see. Sorry it is taking so long guys. I am just as anxious. I wish I would have just ordered one when they were available. Fred, What radio are you using?
