I have seen this raised a few times, but never a difinitive answer with any existing setups. I am now looking at fiting
out a funjet to replace my failing Tigershark Delta. It was doing
around the 170km/hr mark so I want something quick to replace it. I
noticed on an Aussie site they are selling combo packs for the funjet,
and the motor for the basic verson is the Turnigy 2836 3200kv fan motor
motor, at around 400 watts on 3S and 600 watts on 4S....
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=8138 If you want real speed then they are suggesting the HET 2W20 Typhooon motor coupled with an 80 amp ESC on 4S pulling upto 900 watts... (and around 220km/hr..) I noticed there is a new Turnigy inrunner that would suit the bill too, rated as a good alternative to the 2W20: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9083 I think I will go with the first one, as it looks like a good start. Anyone with a funjet care to post their setups? ![]() Wingspan 785mm Edited by SeaComms - 01/Jun/2009 at 4:42pm |

The local hobby shop on the Sunshine Coast has them (not sure if any left at the moment) and I also jumped into google and did a quick search and found 4 or 5 pretty quickly. The prices all seem to be the same, so buying it locally will be cheaper with no freight. Average price is $99. Would love it if HK started stocking them :)

Yeah a Stryker or Funjet equivalent would be an excellent addition to the range!
I'm gonna look for a Funjet then I'll join in on this thread in earnest! |

Well I have bit the bullet and ordered one from the LHS. $95 and the next delivery is due first thing next week (the day after my birthday!!).
The best motor recommendation I can find so far is the HET 2W-20. The specs on this are pretty close to the new Turnigy inrunner, now tossing up which way to go. It will be running on 3S (as I have heaps of them) so I guess I will have a think about it for a few days. |

I have a little MicroDan Speed 2805 outrunner on mine. I dont know the speed but on 3S with a 5*5 prop it leaves nearly all my EDF jets for deadexcept my F-16 with a Typhoon 3W on 4S. Amazing power for such a little motor.
Would love to see how you go with the Turnigy. |

I just tried this motor in my Sniper EP. Amazing speed, but it fried after 5 mins of flying on 4s and 4,75x4,75 prop. Only 5 C degrees here, and it gets a lot of cooling too. The 70 A SS ESC is still intact, though. Edited by Dragevo - 07/Jun/2009 at 3:28pm |

Yeah, a couple of quick calculations shows that combination could be drawing over 1000 watts at over 75 amps.
This motor is not really designed for 4S on a prop I think (it is stated as an EDF motor) - this is a good example of where a wattmeter is your best friend!! Edit: I had to up the motor max current to 100 amps and delete the ESC to enable the program to give me some info! Edited by SeaComms - 07/Jun/2009 at 7:12pm |
