Yes.. because it is burning off 60 percent of your battery energy off as heat.

Thanks to the inefficient 7805 regulator.

Use a 2s lipo to reduce heat, increase efficiency to maybe 70/80 percent instead of the old 40 percent.

You only need a constant source of 7v for the 7805 regulator to work properly. 12v from 8 AA or 3s lipo is just massive wastage as 7v is burned off as heat.

thank you. quick question how do i start the timer? it is already set to 5 minutes but i dont how to start it.

May have some antenna?
I think the problem is in module, stabilizer 7805 (TO220) gets very hot and output voltage drops to 3.4 volts.L I switch to the LM2940CT-5, which has a higher input range, heating heats very hard, do not know what to check. Can I refer you to a forum where you can discuss this issue.
Thanks

If the 7805 regulator is overheating it sounds as if some component is drawing excessive current. Changing the regulator won't help that - you need to be able to read a schematic diagram and fault find (on component level) to pin down the actual fault
I don't care what it says on the profile - I'm so NOT GB!
