How many of you have had the impulse to pierce/poke/prod a puffed LiPo with a sharp object? ShockedWink LOL!

Right now I have a severely puffed little OEM 70mah 1S from my  HK "Dragonfly" heli (I mistakenly walloped it w/ 300mah from the wrong USB cord/charger)Embarrassed...just one lil poke with a pin...lol, j/k...actually I'm scared to death of it...it's so tightly puffed...it's out on my porch in a coffee can full of snow right now...which leads to a corollary question....

...what is the best/safest way to dispose of puffy-puffed Lipos?

Bud, puffy Bud LOL

Go to a (soft) gun range and put it on the stand. You will for sure find some brave shooter who will shoot it down for you from the safe distance ;-)

But 60% of a full charge of 4.2 volts per cell gives 2.52 volts per cell.  This is way too low and below the "absolute" minimum of 3 volts per cell.

You are misunderstanding the 60%. It's 60% of full in mAh, which occurs at about 3.85V..... Actually, I think you've got more than 90% of mAh at 3.85V, but as far as I understand it doesn't really matter much.

The rules are:
- Don't store it at much above 3.7V, 3.85V is fine.
- don't allow self-discharge to lower the voltage below 3V. This implies: when you store it, charge it up as much as possible without violating rule one. This gives "self discharge" as much room to operate in as possible.
