Tried binding a CR8D 2.4 RX and after a couple attempts I saw an orange glow inside the case and smoke started to come out! I am certain the polarity of my battery was correct and I had no trouble binding a second receiver of the same type.
I've had good results with other Corona receivers in the 72mhz fully sythesized type but the 2.4 systems seem to be hit and miss. Quality control is non-existant as this receiver should never have left the factory.
I suggest if you purchase any of their 2.4 systems range check them very carefully. I use a 2m powered glider with the suspect RX only controlling the throttle. I installed a Corona 2.4 DIY TX module and had poor range (not sure if it's the TX or RX problem). I'm going to test the plug in type on my Futaba tomorrow(and I'll post my findings).

Tested the futaba plugin 2.4 conversion from Corona and again the range was not great. A little better than the DIY conversion but still less than required for larger aircraft. Will try and re route the RX antenna differently to see if result improve...

Welcome to the "I got screwed club" of Hobby King. Corona receivers are garbage an they know it. I have four of the 8 channel four of the 6, and four of the 4's. can't trust them on a stick horse. Lost two aircraft within in minutes of each other.

I have all 3 sizes of Corona RX. I have them in 2 electric helis, 1 twin swingwing jet, a Formosa, a 72" wing float plane, a Blue Angels foamy Jet, all operated in an old Jr 8103!
I have had NO aircraft losses!
The only glitch I have had is having to bind them twice sometimes.
Other than that I will continue to enjoy these in my newly purchased PCM-10X!
The problem with the forums is few members bother to write about the good because they are too busy enjoying HK products and the CHEAP prices!

I am trying to install this Corona 2.4 DIY in a Polks Tracker III. The long antenna will be removed and this will operate on 2.4 only. A few questions;
* The 8ch RX has plug-in ports 1-8 but no BAT port; Where is the BAT and THR plug-ins?
* From RX top side to bottom are the plug-in pins SIG, +, and - ?
* Is the antenna cable soldered only to the small land next to ANT ?
* Which transmitter PPM setting is needed.....the + or - ?
* Which receiver setting is needed..... aircraft, JR or standard ?
* Does the sim setting need to be on or off ?
* Does the trainer setting need to be on or off ?
