I recall one from a (very well known) Japanese TV maker in my days as a TV repair service manager

The service manual said we had to 'align the set with its facing east and produce a monoscope'

We never actually did find out how to 'produce a monoscope' (that's the gadget in the transmitter that generates the test card electronically and despite searching all tool kits nobody ever managed to produce one)
