Beautiful work Robo !
So your Yaw servo is mounted on the main body and runs a shaft down the rear arm to drive the motor platform tilt? Brilliant idea!!! |

Does anybody know how to cancel a bid on e-Bay? I put in a bid for a “Cowboy Outfit” and it seems I’m only six minutes away from owning the Australian Labor Government ! |

That`s right
I wanted all the sleek looks- no ESC on the booms and no yaw servo at the back. There`s 2 nylon bushings at each end with bearings pressed in and 6mm solid carbon rod going through. One thing is worrying me- CF rod has a tinny bit of twisting and I suspect that it might be shaking when gyro will try to overcompensate

It looks extremely proffessional Robo.Almost overkill, but there is no such thing in RC, right?
I like the idea of using boom fin holders to hold your arms to the base plate. I used a similar concept for my tricopter with round CF booms, and when I crash, the boom holders break. Nothing else. I just get some new boom holders for no money at all, and I'm up and running again in 10 minutes. On a somewhat related note: I crashed my Tricopter pretty bad yesterday. One of the propellers lost a blade! It just went "foof" in mid-air, which made the tricopter turn inverted and then plummet to the ground. Worst crash yet... Lost some of my plastic boom fasteners, but at ~$0.50 each I have many spares. I just need to exchange them and install two new blades, then I'll be up again. But actually I'm not going to to that. Instead I have started building a hexacopter and will re-use all the electrics from the tri. I'll keep you posted when it's done. :) /Magnus |

Hex will be my next project after quad, FPV plane and a bunch of babies
Magnus, I admit that this is a bit overkill, there`s some things that are not that important, but looks nice. Like the legs- I cut the holes to make them lighter and saved 20gr on each, but extra 60gr will not do much to all up weight. She will be around 1.9kg flying weight, when my previous "frankenstein" was around 2.4kg

Like I told you: There is no such thing as overkill in RC. :)
As with cars. Good thing too, or there would not be any cars other than Mazda 323 or Ford Pinto. Anything else is just overkill, when you boil it down to what you really need. |

Here`s my wiring, everything is soldered directly, no connectors on motors or ESC. KK controller goes on an extra plate, so I can put extra rubber bushings further to reduce vibration:

Well, lads, I f*****up
My fancy torque tube yaw system is not working. CF rod has a tinny bit of flexibility and at more than 50% throttle, tail starts to shake, because gyro is trying to compensate. If I decrease gyro gain to stop tail shaking, it has no use any more. There`s no way I can get rid off CF rod flexibility and metal rod is not a option either, I just have to go to old good "servo at the back" system. At least now I can tell about this to the others, my lesson learned hard, dissapointed way

robo, would a smaller diameter arrowshaft or similar work?
I reckon a aluminium tube would have less directional torque twisting than CF ? |

Trumpy, now I`m looking for aluminium tube or rod, it might work, just have to wait to find out
I`ve spent so much time and effort into the looks of my V2, especially on that torque tube, that it would be a shame, if it will not work Now ME=GUINNESS=FEEL BETTER

Could you use a carbon torque tube like the small diameter torque tube in the trex 450 pro tt. :)
Carbon blanks :
Or the hk pro tt . It is only aluminium though .
