Im using the pack it came with at the moment, 3S 850 20c. I ordered a couple of 3S 1000 25c to see if it is the battery but only two flights so far and I just stick the throttle to 100% and leave there, any less and it stalls and falls.......perhaps I got a dud

The EDF units are power hungry little devils and i reckon 20c doesn't
cut i t- i wouldn't recommend anything under 30c or you could cook eggs
on the batteries and there is not much room in the bay for batteries so
capacity is restricted, dodges F86 goes pretty fast though but a bit like a brick with wings it needs speed to stay up maybe a motor change and higher c batteries will help---

The MAAA can end aero-modelling apartheid Today! They think you're stupid and won't notice MOP057

Would be tight i have 1300 25c turnigys in the F16 and that is a tight fit but as you say they glide very well and have good lift for there size--Scotty the 25c will be fine and will give it more pep but don't know much about the standard donk.

If you wish to mod your F86:
The F86 benefits from the use of a micro 50mm Wemo fan, a GOOD 6000kv motor & a QUALITY 3s 40c lipo in the 850 to 1200 size. Reduce the rear outlet by means of a plastic drink bottle by about 5-8%. Reinforce the flimsy aileron pushrods with thin ali tubing.
The plane rocks.
