Hey peeps! Been real quiet on here lately! Still working on my bike, also now have a venom vmx to compair it too, and it is interesting the differences!

Suspension is in another league with the vmx, having a proper front fork and tyres with proper soft foam inners makes a MASSIVE difference to the grip and handling the bike has. Bot are still fun, and the grunt my qrf has with the 3500kv motor still makes me giggle :)

I ended up buying a duratrax steering dampner for bout $12 shipped and it was easy as to fit to the qrf. the std steering is really rubbish compared to the venom, so this should improve it no end, as well as giving more adjustment.

Only additional parts needed were a bit of wire to lengthen the linkage and I used one of the qrf's clamps from the oringinal setup, so damn easy i dont know why more people havent done it!

sorry for  the crappy phone pics!

here's a pic of the dampner in bits, I used it all except for the bent rod, which I swapped for a straight bit of linkage from my spares, and the plastic cup and ball setup. easy peasy!

Yeah done that, still to fit the limiter straps, here's pics of the heatsinks and revo shock. Unfortuneatly I lost the std spring when the shock broke, i have a few spare revo ones, but I dont think they are heavy enough. Anyway to satisfy my scale needs i have fitted a yellow one, just like on my real husa! :)

yes u deffinalty need a limiter strap, made sure you use the steel end off the original shock, also the alloy top cap off the std shock is stronger than the revo one, i have broken both ends of the shock b4

hey peeps! not much action on the qrf front lately, thought I would give a bit of an update on my bike.

I have fitted a kd36 3500kv motor and the 13t pinion and boy does the bike scoot! wheelies non stop, will wheelie from half speed when you dump the throttle, long, low power wheelies. of course this means alot more crashes and broken bits and you have to be VERY careful on the throttle at low speeds, but I am addressing those one by one.

First issue is the bike keeps shutting down due to overheating, Im not sure if the motor is too hot for this set up, plus we have had about 30days of 30+ degree Celsius weather, but some heat sinks just arrived and I will be fitting them up and seeing if that fixes the problem.

Next one is driveshafts braking, i have broken a few of them now, all in the same spot, the unrequired ring that is machined into the shaft. I have replaced it with a M6x100mm high tensile bolt with a lock nut. This is so far unbreakable, and I have a couple spares should it bend, though that is unlikely!

Just broke the shock after a multi tumble wheelie flip, I will replace the shock with a revo shock and i think i will fit a limiting strap to the shock to stop this happening again, either some braided wire or some thick fishing line.

I have been running my QRF only on cement floor. You need to lower your rear by changing the top mounting holes of the rear shock. Change to softer springs. Make sure your gyro is working smoothly.
You will unable to run your bike on cement floor if your gyro is not working.
Before run, charge up the gyro .

I have cut off all the bumps of my rear tire to try it on pavement. Haven't had opportunity yet though. As for the steering linkage - i have put on a servo saver and steering arm assembled from traxxas parts, that made it more responsive.

oh yeah, now also running 3000wt oil in the rear shock, and it is close to showing some dampning, probably could do with a little heavier oil, 4000?
