I've just received my 9x but upon start up noticed it was faulty. There are funny characters on the screen, I can't save a model functions are missing from the menu. Also noticed that when I go to display it looks like all the sticks are moving and when I move them nothing happens except if I flick the throttle cut switch Grrr. Does anyone know of a fix for this? I really don't want to pay to ship it back to HK for a replacement.

Cheers

Yea thanks I was looking at that but wondering if there is something else other than the firmware that's not working. Doing that would definitely void the warranty.

You're right. But there is no complex electronics in this box, apart the Atmel microproc, which drives everything.

To be cautious:

* Verify that an annoying beep is emitted when you press each key of the keyboard.

* Then open the box and verify, using an ohmmeter, if the pots of the sticks are correct (their value is 5.7kohms), the pots of the knobs (5.7ko) and the seven switches.

* Now, the big work: verify, visually, with a magnifier if possible, then with the ohmmeter, the quality of the wire's welding.

* Finally, verify that the receiver binds correctly.

If all of above is OK, or can be easily corrected, you're the proud owner of a box ready to become a very good emitter !

Else, contact Hobby King to apply the warranty.

To program the proc, it exists a board with pogo pins, integrating the programmer and fully solderless, search "pogo" in the thread I previously give.

Dont forget to open a thread in "order support".

OK same story here just received mine to and obviously something not right with it.  I have another that I have had a while and it works fine.  This one appears fine when left in HELI mode (as per out of the box) but if I try changing it to ACRO or GLIDER the menu system goes all wierd and the display outputs strange characters.

Anyone else with this problem check it out in HELI mode then move to ACRO and see  if you get the same as what I am getting?

@ Kelvinabrown

Looks like they dropped the ball programming the radios as mine was doing exactly the same as your's and both delivered around the same time.  I have now reprogrammed my radio and it is working 100%.  Its either this or send it back to them as they defo screwed up somewhere along the line with the firmware!!

Hi Bhally1, my second 9x is on the way and I'm anticipating that I will have the same problem as you.  What's involved in reprogramming the radio?
Any time not spent fly'n, break'n and fix'n is time wasted!

Cheers

Ian
