My 1K had poorly fitting winglets too. The initial moulding was ok (not good, but ok). The thick gelcoat applied after they took it out of the mold made it fit very poorly to the outer balsa rib.

Here's how I mounted mine:

1) The pin fastened in the winglet is supposed to enter a hole in the outer balsa wing tip. The hole is probably covered up by the covering. Find it. Remove as much of the covering as you dare from the outer wingtip rib to expose the wood, while keeping some overhang on the edge.

2) Sand away as much of the gelcoat as you can from the winglet inner rib surface, without sanding into the fibreglass. Coarse sandpaper gives better adhesion. Don't sand off all the gelcoat next to the aileron!

3) Temporarily install the winglet, and find suitable support for the glueing stage. Wing flat on workbench, support the winglet somehow.

4) Micro (epoxy + cotton flock or microballoons) the winglet to the wing. The mix should not be wet and allowed to run, but rather a a drier "paste". Don't glue the aileron ;)

5) Remove excess micro while still not adhered

6) Let dry

7) Tape the joint with suitable white or transparent tape. Use the kind that won't turn yellow and brittle in sunlight...

Hope this helps :)

Hi thomanie,
Once more you come to help me, thanks guy.

Another difficult thing to do is to install the electric motor.
Do you have pictures that show electric motor mounted in the DG-1000. ?

Thanks,

Glad to help my friend :)

Sorry, my 1K is the pure glider version so I don't have any pictures of motor mounting from mine. There are however some threads in other discussion groups online that show similar modifications to fibreglass fuselage gliders. Visit google for a search, and read up :)

It's basically about finding a suitable motor and prop combo, hacking off the nose at the appropriate position, epoxying a firewall to mount the motor in place in the nose, and installing all the electronics.

You just need to drill holes in the front and mount the motor with 2 or 4 screws. Aluminum disc on the outside and the motor on the inside.

My biggest challenge was that the inside of the motor mount wall was not flat on my model, so I had to make a special inside disc with plywood and epoxy. You may need to add washers or something to align the motor correctly. Apply medium threadlocker (glue) on all screws. Depending on the your power level you may need to make small openings in the fuselage to let in cooling air.

I have attached two pictures showing a Turnigy SK3542-1250 mounted in a DG1000E from CMPRO.
