Info on motors with variable pitch prop?

Unfortunately there's very little info on the VPP systems offered here. What's the difference between type A, B and C? What are the advantages/disadvantages? Can the VPP systems also be mounted on smaller motors? The ones offered here seem to be a bit heavy for smaller shockies.
