Traxxas makes nice 1/10 scale trucks and buggy's.
Rustler, Bandit, Slash.  But their electrics suck wind.
I have a Bandit, dumped all Traxxas electrics except the steering servo. Put in HK stuff, BAM! super buggy.

Nehow, why not clone those trucks with no electrics? Much like the HK450 Heli's are done.
Part for part interchangeable but with improvements, like a larger battery compartment and bearings on the axels.  Basic stuff.  Bet that would sell very well.

IF a roller chassis could be done for say 75$ then add electrics, tx/rx, wheel package (offer 2 or three choices)  Peeps would not be trapped in the Traxxas game of:

"RTR buy this truck and then find out how many parts you paid for that you will throw out when you find out how bad they are."

If you can clone Align, why not Traxxas?

you are the first person have  seen  post any thing bad about traxxas items maybe you should try losi or hot bodies hpi   and dump the bandit get a  truck that HAS AFTER MARKET surport   e maxx  t maxx  e revo
well I dont think I am the first, look up how many peeps burned the Titan 12T stock motor to a crisp, and Traxxas put in elcheapo ESC and AM radio and all RTR!!
fact is you can replace the stock brushed XL5 setup for half the price of Traxxas trash with a brushless setup from HK.  Yes there is the Venelon or whatever name they use for their brushless setup, but its only soso as brushless goes and they charge far far more than its worth.
they do now have a very nice 2.4 radio system they call 'trax link' or somehting like that.  but the $$$ they attach to it, damn thing should be gold plated....
as far as the Bandit haveing no support.  if you want something to fit a bandit just google and replace the word 'Bandit' with 'Rustler'  pretty much the same rig, different wheels, body and longer A-arms.  I changed my A-arms for Rusty RPM ones already, so now I have an HK powerd Bandit body on a Rustler.  and it eats the Venelon Slash from next door for breakfast :)

China already make some good vehicles, just need to source the better ones at the right price - but offer barebones kits not just rtr.

1/10 & 1/8 4wd bashers for a start. Gets my vote.

The attractive thing about a clone is parts availibility, dont want to get caught where my friend is now, got a nice 4x4 buggy off ebay. Two months later its dead in a box with no parts support.

Take some photos of the chassis, a few if possible, and post them on one of the larger rc car forums. Someone may be able to identify it and then you can start looking at the parts to suit.

The car dale e posted seems to be the model which is made by other china manufacturers like Himoto, Redcat Racing, and Exceed RC.. Perhaps that helps. I'm sure there are online shops where you can order the parts. Do some google research it should lead you there.

That's a HSP. There are hundreds of sellers (eBay or webstores) selling parts for HSP. They are really cheap spare parts too. Also there are plenty of upgrades priced pretty well. Which part numbers does he need? Usually if you put the part number into eBay and narrow the search to R/C you will get lots of options. At least in AUS there is. The 1/10 model has a large number of flaws, especially on 3s LiPo. But the 1/8 brushless cars are damn good, and only require a HK ESC, LiPo, and motor fan/heatsink to be great bashers.

But I agree with the OP. Why not clones of cars like the clones of heli's? It would be nice to be able to go to the LHS for the odd part or two when in a hurry, but have the option of dirt cheap clone parts too.
