The best way to cut away covering film for glue joints is to assemble, mark where to cut, take apart, use a straight edge and a hot fine tipped soldering iron and cut inside the line.  Do not burn the wood as it will weaken the part.

I'm not sure that it's really 3D plane, because this plane has very small control surfaces and another planes named EXTRA have bigger control surfaces, even some people on forum sad that this plane is for funtime but not for hard 3D flight. Can somebody tell me some experiences or opinions about it?

Hi,

The "Original" (full size) Extra is not a "3D plane". If you do it scale, it is not 3D.

There are 3D Versions available with larget-than-scale control surfaces. That does not mean, every Extra should be able to do 3D.

I just noticed, I haven't really answered the question ;)

No, I think, this is NO "hard 3D" plane. Should be able to do good dynamic aerobatics, just as the original Extra.

And do you think that it can be simillary flight like with EDGE 540 G2  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5191 or with CAP 232   http://www.emotors.cz/elsa/eshop/10-1-RC-LETADLA/16-2-Hyperion-10e/5/131-CAP-232-ARF-Red-10e-class-3D/related#anch1    ? Thanks

Judging from the photos:The Edge is more "3D" capable. The Hyperion is between this extra and the Edge.

What do you want from that plane?

I own the edge. It is an easy stalling plane thus it is not a good choise for 3D flight. You can do middle 3D. Knife edge can be done with longer servo arms and full throttle. Beware of hariers etc. Althought it is a very good looking plane with very strong frame. I like seeing on the sky but I'm going to sell it. I do like 3D planes

Yep, need bigger aileron for that. And that alone is not enough, kstmark is right, only big control surfaces is not enough, need good design, too ;)
