hello, I really want to buy this airplane, the Souka as I'm a beginner and see that it's 'unbreakable'. I fly helicopters and have a tx/rx but don't know anything about airplanes. It is suggested to buy the 4x 8g servos, the 30A ESC etc. but I don't know which servos etc. to buy. Can someone please let me know which ones so that I can order them up and start flying? Thanks!
Jon
1300 is right on the edge of being too much weight. If you use the battery weight to get proper center of gravity (cg) by moving it back some you will probably be ok.
Let me change my reply a bit, this plane comes out tail heavy sometimes so you have to move the battery forward. Either way use the battery weight to achieve proper cg and you should be fine. Happy flying.
Well ive been abusing the rainbow for some time now trying to experience some of the poor reviews some have had on the power set up and the flexing to the point of uncontrollable crashing(see video). I even let some dudes with rc cars hit the plane several times while i hovered it in front of a ramp for them to smash it and damage was very minimal and easily repaired even after several hits by the trucks and to the ground. The 30c pack suggested is way overkill for this plane,20c 1000mah 3s has more than enough power and wattmeters at just over 20amps or so with the 10x6 on the ground,a 9x5 is nice but less amps are drawn in the air than on the ground during static tests with the 10x6. Only after some crashes that caused some separation of the glue joints in the wing and really abusive flying was i able to make the wing fold but it was still very controllable at moderate to normal flying speeds for a 3d epp plane and the inner foam didnt crack or the carbon strips used for rigidity(easy repair). In all fairness i believe some may have experienced structural weakness with the plane in the but its very plausible theres more to it than whats being posted in the reviews and set up and flying style probally have a lot to do with it as well as possible damage prior from crashes without inspecting the plane prior to flying again. I still give this plane 5 stars and would hope people read these reviews with a grain of salt when there isnt anything to document some of the claims that are made here about set ups or the planes structural integrity by some. Im no expert pilot or designer but here is video of what can happen after crashing without inspecting the plane and the wing bending while abusing the palne to hell,at normal speeds and 3d type flying it was still very controllable after the failure and could of been prevented altogether if i had made minor repairs but i wanted to make the plane fail so i could see for myself what contributes to some of the poor reviews on the plane here and experience it myself. Check your set ups and inspect for damage after crashes. Hope that helps some that are having difficulty's with the plane and set ups.
How did you balance yours?
They recommend 82mm from the leading edge but I cannot get mine to balance anywhere near there. I am using the suggested ESC/Battery and I cant move them any more forward.
I have the same issue , even with a 1300 may 3 cell zippy stuffed right into the nose it only just balances at 82mm, I could probably use a 15-1800 may battery a little further back to help with the CG.
Great plane though flies nicely with some weight in the nose.
I couldnt recreate the poor reviews on the power set ups or the flying and flexing to the point of crashing. Please post some video proof to go along with the comments about how bad the plane is to verify the claims so others can see whats going on with these poor reviews that seem unfounded by others.
I'm using the recommended setup and fly with very few issues, somethings to check though, first the glueing on both of mine was really bad I literally reglued the entire plane just to be safe, second one of mine came without the carbon stiffeners on the inside of the fuse. Apart from the CG its a pretty impressive performer.
This kit driven easily light and powerfully. However, it is a fault that the body twists in the aileron operation. I pasted the glass tape to "Diagonal", and reinforced it.

1 thumbs up!
HK should do something to fix this plane!it twists at half throttle!very unstable..3stars because of the easy assembly, nice hardware and moter(by the way too big prop and too small suggested esc!)Epp is unbreakable but tears easily. If HK fix this somehow,it would be great!at low speeds, the plane is good.
I have one of these planes. I can see what people are saying about the twisting. The plane does twist a little in medium winds. BUT on a calm to moderate breeze it flies fantastically. I am having so much fun with this plane!! It does not look like much but it is a fantastic plane to fly. Don't believe everything you read. Just buy this and go have some fun!
