Can i use thia motor on my hk550gt with turingy dlux 100A i am not doing any 3d just hover and normal flight???? Im using a 5000mah 40c 6s how long is the flying time????
Karin  16 points - 5/20/2013

whats the flight time with a 4s 3000 mah battery? (I want to use this for an electric bike)

What is the least amount of cells I can use?
CocoSpyda  2 points - 5/8/2013

I am using it for a hk500 and its about 70 amps... I want at least a 2650mah, but a cheaper one... Thanks:) .. I gave u credit
 Anthony 45 points
I think you need something way bigger than 2650 for that heli. I wouldn't get any cheap batteries, they will just puff on you, go with nanotechs, like this www.link the 4000mah one. Make sure it's the 35-70c packs, not the 20C packs. You won't regret it.

Do this 1600kv motor need a switch frequency of 8KHz or 16KHz ?? Should the timing be set to Medium or High ??
 gary 2 points
that's another good question ?
 Anthony 45 points
timing varies with setup. Experiment with timing by checking temps after a run. Data loggers go a long way in determining if timing is helping or not.

how many poles is this motor ?
billy  1 points - 5/1/2013

would this motor work in a 90mm 12 blade edf running 6s?
 Anthony 45 points
This motor is mostly used in heli's and boats. EDF needs higher KV
 billy 1 points
Kv rating depends on voltage used. Really just need to know if this motor handles 22v at 90 amps or so. 2000 watts. anyone have experience with this motor? I don't rely on factory recomendations as they are often wrong.

is it possible to use 5x4.5" prop in this?

 Alexandre 26 points
What is the size and weight of your model and what sort of lipo did you think to use with this combo ?
Alexandre  26 points - 4/18/2013

I have ordered the same Combo (hk500cmt and hobbycity 70A esc and 3000mah 20C lipo). It works great, no pb ! If you buy the 85A ESC you can buy 35C lipo (3000mah/85A=35c). But the if you don't flight Hard 3D, the 20C lipo are OK.
pepunk  1 points - 4/17/2013

hello guys I need some help,I ordered a heli hk 500 cmt with this motor and this other things, I dont really know if works fine with this esc Turnigy Brushless ESC 85A w/ 5A SBEC and this battery Turnigy 3000mAh 6S 20C Lipo Pack (Great for T-Rex 500) is correct for this heli and motor?
 kev.keene 148 points
Yep, should be OK except I would go for a LiPo with a higher C rating... That one will be OK for hovering and some light flying around, but thats about it. 20C 3000mAh can only supply 60Amp constant, your ESC will supply 85Amp which is fine, but if you fly hard your motor may demand more than 60Amps...

 pepunk 1 points
thanks for your help kev, I should ask for help before buying hahaha, so I have to buy a battery with higher C rating or another esc with less amp, what C rating should be fine?
 kev.keene 148 points
Definitely not an ESC with less Amp, it is the motor and what you are doing with it that governs amp draw, ie slow flight and hovering=less amp draw, hard pitch pumps/3d flight=higher amp draw. I like at least 40C for helis, but depends on heli, pack capacity as well, higher capacity pack with same C rating can handle higher amp draw. C rating * capacity in amp hours = amount of amps that can be safely discharged at once.
 Alexandre 26 points
I have ordered the same Combo (hk500cmt and hobbycity 70A esc and 3000mah 20C lipo). It works great, no pb ! If you buy the 85A ESC you can buy 35C lipo (3000mah/85A=35c). But the if you don't flight Hard 3D, the 20C lipo are OK.
 kev.keene 148 points
Your calculations for C ratings are a bit skewed, technically a 30C 3000mAh pack can be safely disachrged at 90Amp.
 Alexandre 26 points
Oups, my calculations are false! 20c 3000mah lipo can discharge 60A (3x20), so with an ESC of 85A you can buy lipo of 28C (85A/3000mah=28C). Sorry !
 pepunk 1 points
thanks for your help guys was very helpful, I'll take this combination of motor and esc and battery.

Here some values from today: model "Zwoa Drittel" = 2/3 speeder plane. Prop 7x10 APC, 4s, weight 1200 g , top speed horizontal 247 km/h, 111 Amps Motor not even warm. Fly it also in a Gaui 550 with 1300 kV
 Alexandre 26 points
247km/h top speed ??! Really ?

Not realy Juana.I have this motor with 10x6 folding propel for my Gl speedy and with 4 s static 120 amp 1800W (too much). I use 75 % throtle and i fly it with 80 amp and 1400 w. Best compination is same motor 1300kw 10x6 and 5 s 83 amp 1450w but only for 5-10 sec burst.
 Juana 1 points
Thank you very much markos51. I will try your suggested set up, I should get enough extra speed for this model like this. Thanks.
 Juana 1 points
Hi markos51, The set that you suggested is for the 1300kV motor or the 1600kV. Thanks.

Can this motor run with a 10*8 pro? Any guess about amps or power at 4S with this prop. Trying to upgrade my E flite scimitar. Thanks.
 Wolfgang 8 points
Yes you can. I did it on 4s, 10x8 folding prop in a speeder: max current 110 A during flight, motor not warm due to good cooling. Speed was 232 km/h

Thanks Wolfgang, I would love to reach that speed on this wonderfull plane. Should the 1300kV motor draw less amps?just to be safe on burning the motor. How many mAh does your 4s has and how long is the flyght time?

If this is the same as the 1300kv version then the top bearing is 5mm id. x 14mm od. x 5mm width. Bottom bearing is 5mm x 11mm x5mm. The larger bearing isn*t a common size but Avid has them for $1 each. The bottom bearing is a fairly common size on helicopters.
William W.  15 points - 2/6/2013

is this fine to use in a simple and casual flying 600 size ?
 kev.keene 148 points
No.It is too much work for this little guy to lift that big 600, it might work for a little while, but I wouldn't risk a 600 heli to save a bit on a motor. Go for one of the 600 size motors... You can make it tame with pinion size...

Can i run this motor with 60A hobbywing platinum esc, 6s lipo on hk500. Any advice?
 Viper2097 191 points
Sure you can, no problem, no special advices.
 pinguin6218 90 points
It would be better to use 80A ESC. 1500w / 22.2v = 67.57A
BoBrooklyn  6 points - 12/19/2012

What prop size would be good to use this in a plane? I just built this in my FunJet Ultra with a 7x5 prop and 5-cell LiPo but noticed the motor gets pretty warm very quickly. Maybe to big?
Pak Tsung  3 points - 12/2/2012

Hi all, would like to ask if the motor comes with bullet connectors and wires pre-solder? Does it even comes with a bullet connectors & wires? If no, I would like to know which bullets and wires are best fits for this motor. Thanks in advance.
 BoBrooklyn 6 points
The motor does not come with connectors. Not sure with bullets are best to use, I just solder them to the esc straight away.

Which are the max Amps for 6 cell Lipo for this motor?
 Gary 3001 points
The max watts for this motor is 1500.A 6s pack under constant load will be approx 19.8v,so this means it can be operated up to 75amps.

1 thumbs up!
I use the motor in Funjet Ultra with 6S 2200mAh Nanotech 25-50C. Graupner Speed 5,5 x 5,5 gives ~65A, ~1300W. TGS 7x6 gives ~85A, ~1750W. TGS is a bit too much so I didn't even bother flying since I am pretty sure I would burn the motor. With graupner the motor runs quite warm although it should handle more than 1300W. I have done only 3 flight yet, so far so good, I just hope that it wont burn in the air. !! UPDATE!! I tested the motor some more. APC Sport 6,5x6,5 ~90A ~1700W The nanotech are not up to the task, dropping to 3,16V per cell APC 6x5,5 E ~75A ~1500W This appears to the optimum so far, good performance and the motor stays cool after 4min run in Funjet Ultra.

What does this motor actually weigh? It's really annoying that HK can't seem to get either the weights or KV of many motors right in their specs...

What more could you ask for? Great look, Great Price, and Great performance. Currently running a 4s batt, 8x6 prop, pulling 77amps @ 998 watts. I will soon switch to a 100amp esc and 5s battery. Highly reccomended for a large/fast plane. I have a SR-71 that is 5 feet nose to tail and it screams on the current 4s setup.

Very well balanced. Can't measure efficiency but inflight feelings shows tha this motor is comparable or even better than highbrand motors. Recommended!
