Does this charger work with the Hobbyking 105W 15V/7A Switching DC Power Supply??
 FaNbLaDe 3 points
It's 50 watts per channel so you would need a minimum of 200 watts on you power supply.

Hello, Does this charger do the following? 1. Can timer be TURNED OFF? meaning NOT have a timer limit of 250mins, which all my chargers have, and that kills my nimh charging at 0.2amps for 12 or more hours, my chargers stink. 2. Does the charger remember the values and NOT disappear so i can see them later when i get back to the charger like next morning or eve? thank you
 waynemia 469 points
Yes, you can change the time limit or turn it off.
 waynemia 469 points
Yes, it remembers the timer setting in the user information.

Hello. I would like to charge to batteries and the same time. 2 batteries like this: Turnigy nano-tecnologí*a 2S 12800mah 40 ~ 80C Lipo Pack de (TRA2875 Cumbre / E-Revo / E-Maxx compatible. It is possible?
 waynemia 469 points
You can charge any combination of 4 batteries. Your case has very large batteries so it will take a while because you will have to charge at 5A for each battery.
KANCHANA  1 points - 3/26/2013

Hi, i bought Nanotech 6000mAh 3S batteries and Hobby King Quattro charger. when i select the number of Amps and voltage on the Quattro it doesnt let me go up to 6 Amps and its maximum is 5Amps. what shall i do when i balance/charge?
 mark 19 points
Charge it at 5 amps it will just take a little longer since it will charge at less then 1c
 waynemia 469 points
Each of the 4 chargers are 50W. Divide 50 by the battery voltage and you will get the maximum current. 3S is 4.5A.
 Antonio 2 points
So if I'm Trying to charge a Zyppi 5800 4s I have to use 3.3A?
 waynemia 469 points
Yes. You can set the charger for more current, like 4A, but it won't exceed the 50W limitation of the charger.
 Antonio 2 points
Thanks, what would be the normal charging time for a 5800 4s charging at 3.3A?

I received my new Hobby King Quattro Charger last week and it is great. It is quality made and very reasonably priced. Unless you are new to the hobby, you don't need a manual. It is the same menus as the Accucel & Imax & probably most other chargers. you can plug the balance plugs directly into the charger if you don't feel like ordering 3 extra balance boards. Great price.... I ordered it from the USA warehouse (west coast USA) and it cost $20 to ship to New York. I weighed it and I checked on the UPS website when it arrived & Yes that was the correct Priority Mail cost of shipping.....so Hobby King DID NOT rip me off on the shipping! ...Other chargers on the market cost twice the price & don't do anything more than this charger. Good Going Hobby King !!! ...Buy it and be Happy !!!!!

Will I be able to charge 4 lipo together with this charger I will buy the spare boards
 Ramron 314 points
you can charge any given number of batteries (up to 4) of any type (nimh, nicd, life lilo, lipo, pb) simultaneously.
 Gary 2962 points
Think this charger is almost the same as the one I use so should be the same as this. Press left hand button until you see "User set programme",then press the "Start" button, will most probably then say "Lipo V Type" and 3.7v,press enter again and the 3.7v should start flashing, press the down button and it should change to 3.3v and "Life",press enter and it will now be in "Life" mode which is good for all types of Life batteries.
 sithlord 35 points
you can charge up to 4 batteries at a time providing you order the 2 extra sets of balance and charge leads because it only comes with 2 sets. equipped with 4 high performance microprocessors to charge each battery individually

hi..it say " while series charging a LiFePo4 or NiMH battery" cannot find the lifepo4!!! how do i charge it?
 waynemia 469 points
You have to go to the user settings and change the lixx voltage to 3.3V/cell.
ASCLEPION33  12 points - 2/13/2013

it is possible to use this power supply for the HobbyKing Quattro 4x6S Lithium Polymer Multi Charger Operating voltage range: DC 11~15V Power source: 12V DC Charge power: 50watts, current is regulated accordingly
 Gary 2962 points
Its a bit low if you want to use this charger to its full potential. The charger is capable of requiring up to 200 watts so a power supply that can deliver this would be best.
ASCLEPION33  12 points - 2/13/2013

which of all the power supply do you recomend
 Gary 2962 points
There are quite a few 350w power supplies on the HobbyKing website, choose one of these depending on whether you want 110v or 220/240v.
ASCLEPION33  12 points - 2/13/2013

tha question is if this product (the multi charger) include the power source or power supply
 Gary 2962 points
You will need to supply the power source, either a 12v car battery or a suitable power supply, something of at least 200 watts.
 Ramron 314 points
I'm curious, would a 50W be able to handle two fo these chargers charging up to 8 lipos 3c with no issues, would it charge 8 6c lipos also? where do the amps come into play? i have modified an old 500W pc PSU btw, the 12v rail is ratted at 25Amp but i am guessing i require 40amp to run two chargers simultaneously?
 Ramron 314 points
50W was meant to be 500W. =)
Rachman Andy  3 points - 2/11/2013

i really want to get this !!! can someone out there tell me why i should not????? cheers happy Chinese new year!!!!
 ASCLEPION33 12 points
do you know if this product incluede the power source or power supply
 Ramron 314 points
This units does not include any power source. It has banana plugs to either connect directly to a car battery (using the supplied alligator clips) or to a DC source power supply there is a new unit on HK for a 500w psu or you could make your own psu from an old computer psu, there are youtube videos showing you how, pls be warned, do NOT try to make such a psu while the psu is connected to a wall socket.
 Ramron 314 points
Rachman, i see no reason why not to get this, it can charge 4 lipos at once, or any other battery type for that matter, it has built in balancing so this charger should extend the life of your battery, well to be exact, it should maintain the current life expectancy of any given battery. I have one and will have two soon *)
Brett  16 points - 2/2/2013

just tried this charger for first time but it keeps saying low voltage input error on the 2nd port. the other 3 seem fine. charged 3s lipo on 1st port. I made sure to turn the voltage select to the right to ensure it is on the higher setting. (on the power supply) help!
 Durbz 18 points
i am getting the same error in all the four channels??? any suggestions????
 Brett 16 points
Hey Durbz. If you are getting a low voltage error on all ports, then I would check your power supply. Make sure it is set to the correct voltage. Mine has 100 and 120 volt. Since I am in the US, I have to set it to 120. But in my case, I only get the error on port 2 so no clue why.
 Durbz 18 points
Thanks Brett, as far as i know, the input voltage should be 11V to 15V DC?? how come u are giving 100/120V??
 Brett 16 points
That is for charging from a car battery. (DC input voltage) To charge using AC, a power supply of at least 200 watts is required. I have a 540 W which is overkill but the voltage is 100 or 120 depending on your country. I just tested it on my car battery and don't have the issue. All 4 ports work fine. So now I question if the issue is with the power supply or the charger using AC input. Problem is, the power supply just has a tiny little dial you turn with a tiny flat head screwdriver and I can't tell for sure what voltage it is on but it says to turn right to increment, and left to decrement. I also opened a support ticket with Hobbyking. Hoping they will have suggestions.
 Brett 16 points
Well this is weird. I finally got rid of the low voltage error msg on port 2. All I did was turn the voltage selector screw on the power supply slightly to the left. Not sure why this worked b/c my voltage is 120, not 100. Perhaps, it is backwards on the power supply? but so far it seems to be working.
 Durbz 18 points
Well thanks Brett, i found my mistake. I was using 12V 82W input DC supply. :)
 Durbz 18 points
Hey Brett, do u have any idea how to charge a deeply discharged battery, one of my battery(5000mah 25C 3S1P) has a total voltage of 6.57??? how should i charge it???
 waynemia 469 points
*Durbz - Some will not like this solution but if you put it on NiMh charge and let it run for about 3 minutes, you may be able to start the balance charge. If it still won't start a balance charge, use a meter and look at the voltage of each cell. If you have one that is 0, it is a dead cell and you will have to do something about it. If they all have some voltage, then try the Nimh for 3 more minutes. It is important that you BALANCE charge the pack. The pack may have one or more cell that have died. Now, even if you do get it to charge, it may be damaged. You can use the cycle function of your charger to see if it is up to par on the capacity. Keep an eye on it as it is most likely not as good as new.
 Ramron 314 points
I could add the temp sensor to that specific charging port, and enable temp cut off at the lowest temp possible, above room temp, that way you can almost be sure that your lipo wont go critical mass on you =D just an idea.
 Durbz 18 points
Thank u people.... Waynemia: u said if the cell is below some voltage it will not charge and will have to do something about it, right? what exactly do i have to do???
 waynemia 469 points
The charger will not recognize the battery correctly. It may see a 3S as a 2S or worse. This happens when the lipo is discharged too far. You can put the back on NIMH charge for a short time. This will try to bring the cells up enough for the lipo balance charge to work. Put it on for a couple of minutes, stop the charge, change to Lipo Balance mode, and try to charge. If the charger still does not recognize the pack correctly ,then put it back on NIMH for another minute or two and try balance charge again. If it still does not start, look at the voltages of the individual cells. One may have died and still show a very low or no voltage. In this case, stop. I don't recommend it for everyone but I usually disassemble the pack and remove the bad cell. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS SO DON'T DO IT UNLESS YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!! This process for trying to revive a deep discharged lipo is the same for almost all chargers. Batteries that have been deep discharged are considered compromised so you should keep an eye on them. and possibly derate them. IF YOU WANT TO BE REALLY SAFE, YOU CAN DISPOSE OF LIPOS THAT HAVE BEEN DEEP DISCHARGED. I don't need any responses about this being a bad idea or dangerous. I just said that. I have done this successfully many times but that is my choice and I don't advocate others doing it unless you are comfortable with the risks.
 Durbz 18 points
Thanks a lot Waynemia... i will go for the dispose option :)
Joel  2 points - 1/29/2013

So, is this 50W total or 50W/channel? Reason I'm asking, I have a Turnagy 1080W power supply, so plenty of input juice. I want to charge 4S 2700mah cells at 1C, this will require about 45W/channel. I'm assuming that either there are 4 balance jacks or at least these are available seperatly. For the price this seems like a pretty good deal.
 Mario 5 points
50W per channel. Mine arrived yesterday and it looks pretty.
 waynemia 469 points
It is four 50W chargers in one box. Each channel has a balance plug and main leads. It only comes with one set of main leads and two balance boards. The two balance boards are for two different plug types. So the charger comes with the cords/balance boards to charge one battery. You can order the additional balance boards for your batteries and additional main lead cords as needed.

Thanks Mario and Waynemia. This def helps me make the decision. Sounds like is would make a great 1c charger for my 4S cells.
 Mario 5 points
It doesn't mind. But bear in mind you need the additional main lead cords. I had to make an order only for that. Only two main cord with wide cable (18AWG) are supplied with the charger.
 Joel 2 points
The main cords are pretty easy to fabricate, some decent quality banana plugs, heavy wire, and your battery connection. I would want to order enough balance connectors, as these are more customized to the input of the charger.
saurin01  11 points - 1/29/2013

can i charge 4 lipos with this charger also are all the wires supplied for
 mark 19 points
wires arent supplied but you can buy them or just make up your own. And yes 4 lipos at once is nice
 Durbz 18 points
How do u charger the zippy battery, i have 5000mah batter, at what Ampere should i charge??? My battery's total voltage is 5.5V after using it... how should i charge using this charger????
 waynemia 469 points
See my other response to your question. The charge current for lipos is typically 1C.
Mario  5 points - 1/24/2013

Also, see the page number 11 of the manual (in the "files" tab of this page). It's shown a wire diagram in which the battery is directly connected to the carger without any adapter. Is this correct?
 mark 19 points
Yes you can connect the balance plug directly to the charger. the main reason for the balance boards is so you can get the battery a little ways away from the charger while charging as hooking the balance plug directly to the charger keeps the battery very close. For me the easiest way to do that is to unplug the main charge leads. Plug in the balance plug the plug the main leads in and charge away. I love this charger it makes life nice when you have as many batteries as I do lol

Haha, i agree! I still haven't got the charger in my hands, but it must be great not to be to stop because the battery is dead.

Can i connect my 3S battery balancer plug without an adapter? (It's the standard one). I mean, connect him directly, leaving pins of the charger plug without connect. Thanks!
 TaterTotDW 197 points
It sounds to me like you are asking about the balance board. It should fit just fine without an adapter.

Will a Ripmax propeak 13.8V mains charger (0-20A output) power this unit? How do people feel it would cope with 4 x 6 cell 4000 Turnigy cells on charge? Thanks in advance
theSelf  45 points - 1/8/2013

is there a particular power supply product here at hobbyking anyone can recommend to purchase with this charger that will give the max power this device needs to be most effective? (Can I use the 12V 5A power pack supply I use to power my turnigy accucel- 6 single lipo balance charger or is that not enough power- is it even possible to use as this HobbyKing Quattro 4x6S Lithium Polymer Multi Charger doesn't appear to have a barrel connector type of socket for the input DC power anyway..? thanks in advance
 Murillo 13 points
As long as you get more watts on your power supply, better for you. So, for this one, I think you must get a 600 watts... Never less than this...
 theSelf 45 points
thanks- but why 600W- is there a particular model on this hobbyking site you recommend as a power supply for this? So my 12V 5A power pack won't work?
 larry 7 points
I have this charger and use part#a30 power supply it has 25 amp and like 340w and I charge 4 lipo's, 6000mah at a 6amp charge all the time at the same time and the power supply doesn't get but a little warm, the fans just kick on once and awhile and it keeps on working, the reason your 5amp won't work is cause it can charge up to 6amp's per battery so just charging just one battery it wont put out the power for that, but charge 4 at a time on max 6amps=24amps

Unboxing, Review, Setup and Tutorial on the Quattro 4 x 6s charger from Hobby King. This is an awesome charger for a reasonable money, i got it from the Hobby King USA warehouse for around $90 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__1968
1__HobbyKing_Quattro_4x6S_Lithium_Polymer_Multi_Char
ger_USA_Warehouse_.html It
can charge 50 watts per channel = 4.5 amps for a 3s battery, 2.2amps for a 6s battery First 11 Min: unboxing, review and charging a lipoly battery. Next 5 min: Charging a Nicad and using the Temperature probe to monitor battery temp. Last 5 min: Setting up and using the Charge Monitor Program to graph charge profile on your pc.

Does this only come with 2 balance leads? If so that is ridiculous when clearly it is being purchased to balance charge up to 4 lipos..

 waynemia 469 points
It comes with leads to charge one battery. You will need three more leads and probably three more balance boards. The two balance boards included are different. I use the XH type so only one of the boards works for me. I don't remember which plugs the other one is. I ordered three more balance boards and three more charge plugs in order to fully us the charger.

 waynemia 469 points
Maybe. You need a power supply that can supply 200W or about 17A * 12VDC. Some PC supplies will be able to supply that current and others won't.

Hi friends... Two important questions: - Has this charger the car battery protection like the HobbyKing 4B6 Balance Charger? I mean, it cuts the voltage in order to don't discharge the car battery (that's says). - Can i connect my 3S battery balancer plug without an adapter? It seems in the user's guide. Thanks!
 pincher 12 points
primeira pergunta= nao segunda pergunta= nao
 Mario 5 points
Primera pregunta - No tienes ni idea, Segunda pregunta - Tampoco. You're wrong, the charger cuts off if the input voltage is lower and i can connect the batteries directly. If you don't know about this, don't talk, it doesn't help.
 waynemia 469 points
It has input voltage limit. You can set it so the charger stops if the input voltage is lower than the set voltage. You would need to set this for each channel.

I bought this charger to take care of all of my needs. Lipo works great! I have NiCad, NiMh, and LiPo batteries. I do not find it as reliable as I would like when cycling my NiMh batteries. You can cycle the same battery on different ports and get wild fluctuations. I would like a manual too. However, until someone else comes out with all of these features at a better price, what can you expect for such a great price.

Charger works well and is great for charging 4 of anything at once. I agree with others that it should come with 4 of everything instead of one. Problem with mine is when balance charging 3S lipos the middle cell is always around 4.22v (its been as high as 4.25v on occasion) and the 2 outer cells around 4.15v, so the balance side of it is a bit inaccurate hence the 4 stars.

After a week of thinking I had a defective charger from the factory and dreading sending it back to HK and waiting ten to twelve weeks for a replacement, I figured out what I was doing wrong. It would be very nice if HK would include a copy of the instructions with the package. I just happen to find a printable copy under the FILES tab below the item description. At least package a note with the location of such information. Great charger now.
