The TG9e boasts the same performance as other servo's 10x the price with a .10sec travel time and up to 1.5kg in torque and an ultra narrow dead bandwidth!
The TG9e performance is on par with the famous HXT900, however the TG9e isn't as resistant to crashes or over-loading.
Please always ensure your control surfaces are bind free.
Spec.
Dimension: 23x12.2x29mm
Torque: 1.5kg/cm (4.8V)
Operating speed: 0.10sec/60 degree
Operating voltage: 4.8V
Temperature range: 0-55C
Dead band-width: 7us
Important. The TG9e does not have the same strength and longevity as the HXT900.
Please ensure your control surfaces are bind-free and always check servos after a hard landing or crash!
You may want to look at servos which provide more torque than these for use in a larger plane. These provide only 1.5kg/cm. Also, make sure that a 9g micro servo will fit your application. You may need larger servos.
big 3d plane = metal gear servo, my choice for plane upto 1.2 kg is tgy-9018 servos, strong smooth and reliable, a little, twice the price but they will last twice as long
I got a 3d airplane and i need LOTS OF SERVO THROW LOTS. are these servos give LOTS LOTS of throw like the HTX900s? i was planning on getting those but they got discontinued. So do these servos have LOTS/ PLENTY of throw?
I would go for something quicker than this. Whikst it is a good cheap servo, you would really be better off with a fast digital 9g size servo - circa 0.06 second. Will be better matched to the BeastX system and hold the tail well.
Been using these on many models ... EDF, pushers, sport etc. wherever a 9gr is suited .... and had no trouble at all ... in fact I had worse problems with Corona Metal gear servos than these....
If you expect Gold for cost of Iron ... then that is not the deal. But if you want a boxful of servos for the bench ready for next model / replace stock or busted ... then these are spot on the button. I have found no real difference using these or the higher priced HXT's ...
There cheaper than the HXT-900 and I reckon there better, they just sound better, not as noisy/scratchy? as the HXT, $2! cheaper than a bag of lollies!!!!!
I personally would go with a metal geared servo just to be safe. However i have not used a plastic geared for your use. For peace of mind i would use metal geared because when plastic geared servos get to much strain the teeth shear off and you crash.
Just received 4 of these servos yesterday. Only one will work, the other three won't chatter, twist, vibrate or anything. Have cross checked known working servos and eliminated every variable except these three servos. Is it possible I got three bad ones out of four?
Yes. Thats what you get when you buy it cheap. I prefer the TG9x to this. The percentage of failures of the TG9x is smaller and it has higher torque and its only a few cents more expensive
I have 51 of these servos in planes now. I like them. I can only remember one which came damaged. The lead wire was damaged where it entered the servo body. a few minutes with the soldering iron fixed that. I have a bag with three of these that I fried due to incorrect installation. It's possible I've been lucky with these, but having used almost 100 of these with only one out of the box failure makes me skeptical of bad reviews.
The battery that you use does not matter because the servo is connected to the receiver and not to the battery. As long as your receiver is feed with approx. 5V you are fine.
well directly, obviously no lol. but it work with any esc with 5v regulator, look up for esc with bec. the bec powers up the reciever and servos with 5v.
TG9e , Ive been using these along with the HK15178 in my 450 helicopters , and aside from crash damage have been very good servos , and at $2 a pop are possibly the best bang for buck at Hobby King . If your just starting out and are crashing , then I highly recommend the TG9e for use .
They are good servos and priced just right for replacement , buy 10 at a time , that way you'l have servos at all times in your parts box . I dont think I could have afforded to learn to fly 450's without these $2 servos .
If you can afford $25 a pop servos , well good for you , but Im still using $2 servos cos they do a fine job , maybe one day I will move up to $5 a pop servo's - Maybe !
They are very good for they're price, no doubt. Though if you want relyability, you should upgrade to metal gear servos. They can take more strain and are not so easily broken! Cheers
I bought 5 of hxt900 to fill postage, one was faulty, 20 percent failure rate, HK did replace the faulty one, but I don't think much of them, there noisy, and to me poor quality, I buy the HK digital ones for $2.80 or the turnigy servo's, I think both are better than HXT-900's, I might add I had no failures of any including the hxt's in any of my planes. the hxt-900 just sound cheap and nasty, I know they had a bad bunch and I think I got some of them, but each to there own I suppose the HXT's get's good reviews, but not from me.
I'm holding on to a piece of wood as I'm typing this, I've never stripped a gear in any 9g servo, and I've got a few different ones, tower pro, turnigy, hxt-900, and hxt digital's my favourites (they're quieter and just seem better quality) but I have had a few faulty ones! 1 tower pro didn't work at all, 1 HXT-900 that thought it was a jumping bean, and 1 intermittent no brand in my bixler 1 (went full shift intermittently) taught me how to use a glue gun..LOL..If they work I like em too! I reckon the gears may fit the turnigy I know the servo arms match up I just tried them.
It would be interesting if they fit, I only fly foamies at the moment, when you stripped that servo was it in a foamie or balsa elevator/aileron?? my theory is the foam planes collapse rather than the servo's..LOL
Well I want to use it for the fpv camera pan-tilt mount L-size...... so will the vs-15 work/fit? And if not is there any servo in the Hitec series that will fit the mount?
There $2, just put an order in for a few of these and forget about them, so when they DO turn up you'll be happy!...I like these servo's too product ID: hkscm9-6, there digital and I've never had one fail,They cost $2.83
I have this servo for my scratchbuilt 3d planes and after a lot lf use the plastic gears stripped. I would recommend metal gears but the plastic gears will last a while.
I want to know if this servo turns 30°* degrees to one side and 30°* degrees to the other? or 60°* one side and 60°* to the other? or 60°* just to one side and return?
thanks for your help
Cauda Power HD 3688HB Digital Servo 25g/2.8kg/.07sec
Coletivo e passo: 3x Corona 929MG Metal Gear Servo 2.2kg/ 12.5g/ 0.10sec

Recomendo.
Wow! I tried a digital metal geared servo from another manufacturer to replace an HXT I had in my wood tricopter. It failed and I crashed. I didn't have the HXT because I used it for another project. So, I tried one of these. I truly can't tell the difference! These are great little servos too! It held up fine while I was doing aerobatics.

57 thumbs up!
It's similar but not the exact same as the HXT900, however I think the gears should be interchangable. I checked the current draws on 5v: idle, about 10ma, freely moving full swing or with a little resistance, about 100-200ma, and stalled, 600ma. Also, dunno why they call it a 9g servo- it's right around 12 grams, but that's no problem, should be listed as that. Fairly precise, nothing special. However, if you need a cheap servo, this is the one.

30 thumbs up!
It looks like the HXT900, has the same size but is a clone of the HXT900. The precision is a little bit lower than the HXT900, but still good enough. I like the longer wires. It seems that this servo is a bargain buy, but we still do not know what they'll do after hundrets of flights. I'll give 5 stars for now.

21 thumbs up!
This servoe is exactly same as Tower Pro SG90. The plastic case is exactly same, if remove the stickers, you may not be able to point any different. I opened them the electronic circuit board is exactly same as well with same motor same cable with same length. I have replaced the gears and no problem. Even the QC and test stickers inside and out side are same and in the same area. The Tower Pro SG90 is very strong and long life servo.

12 thumbs up!
Installed in cub, beside the TG9, and this one noticably faster... had to replace the TG9 with another 9e. Not sure if I would put this in a high torque demanding application, but for most planes this is perfect, cheap and fast!
I have used this on a home built rafale eurofighter profile plane made from depron foam. I just noticed comparing it to the HXT900 9g (which I also have), its a tad slower. The specs on this turnigy TG9e does say 0.10 sec while the HXT is .12sec. I bought only 2 of these since this is the cheapest servo I could find at the time of my purchase. I suppose this servo can be an indispensible on or a disposable one depending on how you would use it. For me, it served the purpose as tailerons. Quality wise, it does not look any different with the HXT 900 9g. A millimeter difference based on the tech. specs. and it pulls 1.5kg instead of 1.6kg for the HXT900. If you are looking for a cheap servo, this is it. LHS will offer this at a ridiculous 3 times price. I would like to support my LHS but at the price hobbyking is offering these, makes me think twice. I can order spare parts and even with the shipping costs, it will still be cheaper with hobbyking. They just slam the competition if not all, most of the spare parts/planes/heli on LHS.
