Hi I have an old trainer with a SC15 in it and I want to replace it. Can you tell me if this engine will suffice? The weight is 1.5kg, the wing span is 51 inches and the current prop on it is 18-10 (7-4") I am afraid I am not sure what that means or how to read the dimensions. Many thanks,
 biggum 6 points
hi neil, i have this engine in a 38" aerobatic plane and it really has plenty of power. it should power your trainer easily. the 7-4 refers to the diameter - 7inches, and the pitch-4 inches, which is how far the prop will move forward in one revoloution. hope this helps.

 Ueslei 8 points

So you do not prime the engine? The engine just locks everytime I try and prime it..
Alex  2 points - 4/25/2013

I bought this engine recently and it seems to be a dud. The engine is very difficult to turn over and makes a grinding noise.. initially I thought this was because the engine was new. However, it has not loosened up. Furthermore, the backing plate on the engine that would normally be secured onto the crank shaft is not attached solidly.. Unlike any engine I have ever owned, there is no piece to secure it onto the crank shaft. Its almost as if there is a part missing? Everytime you try and spin the engine up, the prop just undoes itself. Hard to describe but this is the second, small asp engine that I have purchased from Hobbyking that does not function properly. My ASP 25 never idled correctly.. prior to this I had great luck with ASP and thought they were a reliable engine.. My 52 was brilliant. However, now I will never purchase ASP again.
 coptor 35 points
This is an ABC engine, it is supposed to be hard to turn over when new, and you're NOT supposed to turn it over slowly by hand. You'll only be s****ing off the protective film and eventually the piston.

will this engine work with a plane with 1560mm wingspan 1130 length with a total flying weight of 1600gms? if not, can someone help me get the right engine for the specifications mentioned above. thanks in advance!
 prnicolo 6 points
This motor won't be suitable for plane with more than 1 meter wingspan. For 1.56 meter wingspan, perhaps you need 32 or 40 class motor.

Hello, can I use this motor with a propeller 9x5? and that fuel should I use? Thank you.
 jpedreira 1 points

How to bring one of these to Brazil engines?
 ANTONIO ENNIO 1 points

prehistorik  1 points - 2/12/2013

Depends on what kind of aircraft u fly. If it is an acro plane, I would say that 1,5kg take off weight would be maximum weight for this engine, 1kg would be perfect. If it is a trainer u could pull it through. But i would sudgest a 32 size engine for a 2kg plane!
Vikram  10 points - 1/26/2013

Can I use this engine on 2kg aircraft? What is max weight for this engine?
 stuart 8 points
yes if you have a light wing loading it would be fine.
Jander  1 points - 1/23/2013

Valeu!
skiahtro  4 points - 1/19/2013

what is better to use and why? nitro fuel or castrol??which has the most power?
Jander  1 points - 1/16/2013

Bons voos!

Hi guys I am looking for a fuel mixture for this engine with no nitro. When people say 20% castor oil what is the other 80%? Please can you help me I am using a 8x6 prop. Thanks
 Moustafa 69 points
the other is methanol alc.
Vikram  10 points - 12/30/2012

Anyone know the diameter of the holes for the engine mounts along the side of the engine? Thanks
Vikram  10 points - 12/30/2012

Thanks for all the answers. I am looking at a 750 mm wingspan and a total length of 615 mm with a total weight of about 1.5 kg or so. Is that useful? Do I have to use nitro? Thanks again
Vikram  10 points - 12/21/2012

Can I use a 9x7 tri blade prop on this engine?
 beppo 84 points
A 9x7 3blade is deffenitly to big for this engine. Suggested prop is a 8x6 2blade and 3blade of the same size needs more torque. You can try a 7x6 or 7x5 3blade, that should work fine.

what fuel to be used guys? Can you please give specific ratio?
 beppo 84 points
You got to use glow fuel with up to 15% nitro and 18% oil. For brake in use glow fuel with 5% nitro.
Vikram  10 points - 12/21/2012

How good is this engine, I was looking at the AP hornet 0.15 but it is out of stock. What fuel do I use, what prop and what engine mounts? I am building a plane with length between 1.5 to 2.5 feet. Is this engine a good choice? Thanks
 beppo 84 points
I answered Your questiones about prop and fuel allready. Think this engine is top for the price. Can't answer Your question about the plane. There is a huge difference between 1.5 and 2.5 feet on length. You also got to tell us details about the wingspan and estimated flyingweight, otherwise we can not help You.
 udaypraveen 36 points
vikram are you mentioning length of plane or wingspan make it clear.as for the engine you can use upto 9*4-5 2 blade prop but the ideal prop is 8*6 2-3 blade prop.it can hold upto 1kg plane with ease

Please, What Glow Plug that I use in this engine?
 Gary 3001 points
Use a HobbyKing No3 or No4 glowplug.

Does anyone know can this engine be installed on a engine mount for the OS MAX 10 FP series engine? Because I have a plane where this OS engine used to be and I still have that engine mount.
 Sandeep 1 points
is dont think so go for 4cc engine mount.. these are the best and cheap engine on HK
 Uberfest 31 points
believe to be demasiadamene big ... ... serves in aeros with 1, 15 m wingspan approx.

I got this engine as an upgrade from an LA15. The LA weighs in at 182g/6.5oz, and this one at 225g/8oz. Rpm with the .21 after 3 tanks, with 2 nitro, 18pcnt(50/50) oil: MAS 8x3 17.7K, MAS 9x4 14.2K, Right now, it's only about 5pcnt better rpm over the bushed LA. At this point: idle is good, midrange is a little rich, and peak is good. It still needs more break in time, because the needle is still REAL touchy. The .15 is the real gem 19k w/MAS 8x3!!

Wow, this is the very, very powerful, and little engine.
I use with TGY 8x7E, and TGY 9x5E prop., 10pcnt nitro fuel, 90cc fuel tank in 800g 3D plane. Fly time 15 minutes, and the tank no empty. In my country this engine is dual price. Thanks HK!

A beautifully name engine. It works fine. Brute power, I am using it in a sports biplane. We use no nitro and we fly at 2.650 meters above sea level in Bogot with 9 x 4 propeller (Tornado Grish nylon). Its reliable, starts easily, simple to adjust, beautiful idle. Only problem: a very, very bad instruction leaflet. Seems this situation is common to most Chinese products. I thoroughly recommend it.

Got this engine last week within 4 days after placing order, well packed. Fixed to my plane, started first go and runned in with a full tank. Next thing is to test it in flying, but I don't have any hesitation that it will perform very well, very good product, I will be looking for a 40 size soon.
