Hobbyking Radjet 800 EPO 800mm (PNF) (UK Warehouse)
Hobbyking Radjet 800 EPO 800mm (PNF) (UK Warehouse)

There is plenty of rad in the RadJet-800! With it's amazing price, EPO foam and being Plug and Fly, this brilliant model has no trouble earning the RadJet moniker.

The Radjet 800 has been tested and flown to within an inch of it's life and it performed flawlessly, not only in terms of light performance but also reliability and believe me, we tried hard to kill the test version! It's a simple build with the motor, ESC an servo's pre-installed, even the decals are pre-applied! It has several impressively simple and practical features such as the plastic skid on the length of the underside of the fuselage that will protect your Radjet from the usual tears and gouges, servo arm protectors on the wings, effective cooling for the ESC & Lipoly and so on.....and it's how much?

But, it doesn't stop there, oh no! What's it like to fly? Utterly brilliant! The light flying weight means that the outrunner motor gives tons of performance, the Radjet will pull massive loops and is capable of some pretty precise aerobatics, it's quick, no doubt about it but throttle back and it becomes a total pussycat, fly it like you stole it or glide around, either way it's a hoot! So to sum up, it looks great, it's easy to assemble, flies brilliantly, is reliable, fast and cheap....Radjet? You better believe it!

gavin  1 points - 5/20/2013

whats the flight time for the rad jet 800 with the 1300 mah nano tech lipo
derek  1 points - 5/9/2013

I have owned my Rad Jet for six months , I was driven to buy it by it,s good looks throw in the boot size & it,s write up.. When it arrived the Jet was so easy to put together it was ready to go in 40 min . After trimming out (C/G is wrong on plan) . I soon discoverd that the jet was a joy to fly , Fast low passes big curves and loops , rolls ect . Pound for pound it,s got to be the best buy around ! Del boy

I have a 2100mah 11.1v 25c lipo and was wondering if i could use it with this plane also qhat connectoers are these
 mannnick 35 points
no the plane is too small for a 2200mah - 1300mah is perfect...great perormance and good dlight times ..... try the nanotech 1300's .... cheap and perfect for the radjet....hope this helps
 piers 2 points
Thanks
Im gonna have to maiden my new plane befor this one my parents say 2 is roo many for 1 month
Ill have to wait
 Nicholas Leigh 28 points
I'm sorry Piers but your mistaken I run mine on stock setup with a 3s 2200 25c lipo and its fine just requires cutting a bit of the fusslarge for it to sit far enough back for weight distribution with the cg (which is wrong in the manual by the way) it's 395-400mm from nose tip back, it works out to around the finger holes I lined mine up using the two dots on the underneath of the wings (one on each side) and using a ruler marked a line in each finger hole. Or you could make a jig to rest the two decel dots to rest on. The cg is pretty important to get rite.

What kind of glue I must use for this model?
 Jlaw71 133 points
I personally use 5 min epoxy But because the sides are smooth I stab each surface i wish to bond with a star screwdriver a couple of stabs at a angle, This allows the glue to fill the holes and makes anchor points on a smooth surface. Thats a top tip for any epo model
 Nicholas Leigh 28 points
The answer for this will vary because everyone has there preferred method lol. For me I like to use shoe goop or a hot glue gun reason being is its a very good bond but flexible and shock absorbent so it will last longer than foam safe ca and epoxy
 Adam 8 points
I personally would Gorilla glue :).. Strong shiz!
 Nicholas Leigh 28 points
Yeah gorilla glue is good but it can expand if to much is used and can be messy I've used it for repairs before
 Ian 1 points
I've just used the new white Gorilla Glue to fix the nose back onto my Radjet, its strong and dries pure white which is nice. Also goes off faster than the original. Ordered a new Radjet also!
 Ian 1 points
If you wet the side you're putting the Gorilla Glue on you only need a little remembering it will expand to fill the gaps as it sets, but up the edges and clamp (or pin for a repair). Produces a really strong bond with foam.
mattydred  9 points - 4/7/2013

with the 1500mah lipo i had to fit about 80g to the rear of the plane and cog is 380mm from the nose. when the lawmate vtx arrives i will fit near the rear and remover the counter weight
mattydred  9 points - 4/4/2013

where is the cog on this plane? what is the best prop to use with standard motor and esc? i am using a 1500 35c 3cell lipo. im not bothered about stupidly fast cuz it is a fpv plane and i would like longer flight times and a cruise speed of 60 mph and a top speed of say 120mph
 Jlaw71 133 points
roflmao your not fussed about speed but want it to do top speed 120mph 1ST answer the prop that came with the jet there is a spare it is the same size. 2ND I balance her just where the first wing join is at the nose end. 3RD i wouldnt put any fpv gear on her she,s too small and wont handle the weight turns and rolls will be well dodgy and you would have to add alot of weight to the back end. Your not going to get anywhere near 120mph with stock set up. Think about a high watt motor around 2500kv a 50a esc and a 5x4.75 prop then you might get up around that sort of speed with a 4sell lipo

the reason i bought it is to fpv it. i have 300 flights with f27c stryker.
 mattydred 9 points
has any1 got measurements from the nose to the cog. ive measured it to the manual but jlaw says "balance her just where the first wing join is at the nose end" which is 120mm further forward than it recommends in the manual. surely the manual cant be that far out?? im going to tame it right down for fpv - the fpv is small and light and will run off the balance lead of the main flight pack
 Nicholas Leigh 28 points
Mine is balanced and flying perfectly with the cog around the middle to rear of the finger recesses on the underneath inline with the 2 dots on the underneath of the wing one on each side. Don't use the cog In the instructions it's wrong
Nicholas  7 points - 4/2/2013

Just ordered one myself and a couple Nano Tech 1300 lipo's, Looking forward to getting it, if its half as much fun to fly as in the videos ive seen i will be very happy.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Balance is the key to this model make sure its very well balanced or your going to find it very difficult to control
 mattydred 9 points
im using the ZIPPY Compact 1500mAh 3S 35C Lipo Weight: 138g (including wire, plug & case) Dimensions: 108x34x18mm

Just ordered this plane. Looking forward to flying the little beast. Will give a review to everyone soon!
 Jlaw71 133 points
get the balance right or it will be a very short flite
 Adam 8 points
Finally received my RX.. within 1 min of flight... snapped the front end off lol. Modified the Radjet... shortened the front end. Will test tomorrow.
Josh  26 points - 4/1/2013

Also, would a 25-50c battery be ok for the ESC/Motor?
 Jlaw71 133 points
yes 25-50c will be fine for this motor aswell as the axn
Josh  26 points - 4/1/2013

What is the difference between this model and the other more expensive radjet?
 Jlaw71 133 points
The more expensive one is bind and fly comes with a receiver. There are 3 versions Kit version Plug and Play Version and the Bind and fly version if im not mistaken.

I got my Radjet 3 weeks ago from HK UK Warehouse, quick 48hr delivery as stated. A quick and easy build, impressed with the quality considering the price. Had read so much about the center of gravity on different forums and on here, whereby the COG is wrong in the manual and it needs to be further back, so cut a bit of foam to enable the battery to be pushed back further so it is flush with the canopy opening. Put about three quarters of throttle on launch and it took to the sky very stable, just needed a bit of trim and it flew very well. Impressed with the speed on stock motor and prop, while using NanoTech 1300mah 25-50c lipo. Had dual rates on 85% and expo on 25% and flew very nice. Got to say it an excellent bit of kit for the money and great fun. Might just have to mod it now !
 Jlaw71 133 points
change the stock motor to Turnigy2836 brushless Outrunner 2350kv You will be well impressed
 paul110472 1 points
Thanks for the advice about the motor, I will have to invest in one. Will the stock esc be ok with that ?
 Jlaw71 133 points

My point was he,s not making a fortune out of the deal. The hobbyking currency converter is well out of date. Some people dont like to use hobbyking and prefer ebay so he is providing a service to them, making a bit himslelf after ebay fee,s paypal fee,s and keeping Hobbyking popular models in circulation, I dont think Hobbyking mind what he does with the goods he buys as long as there being paid for when they leave the hk whse :D

Hi, Has anyone tried flying this on either a 5" x 5" or 6" x 4" GWS prop ?? I've had good experience with GWS props in the past and just wondered if it would be OK on this model ??
 steven 24 points
Yes I fly mine on a 6x4 prop great result no overheating just more virtual power .

 Budgie 72 points
Hi Steven, Can I ask where you got your 6 x 4 GWS prop from as I can only find GWS 6 x 3 on the internet. I'm using a 6 x 4 APC prop at the moment with a prop-saver. Regards
 steven 24 points
Hi yes I bought 12 of them off eBay from china last summer just had a look and cannot find seller I will have a look through my feedback later to see if I can find him but have a look on eBay as I was looking through esc and brushless motors and came across the props ,I think the company was riccs aircraft os sim to that.

Hi Steven,I'll have a look around, thanks. Regards

A nose heavy plane flies badly and a tail heavy one flies once!! Best advice is take it a little at a time with the C of G until you are happy. As for the throws, I would also take it easy to start with. Try travel on the servos of say 60% and 30% expo. These type of planes are built for straight line speed and wide jet like turns. When you are happy with how is behaves then you can turn things up a little at a time and set up D/Rates if you want.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Get the balance spot on ( couple of bolts and a washer ) and it flies like a dream c of g is exactly where it states in the manual im no expert flyer but i can throw the radjet round for fun rolls inverted skim off floor its all down to correct balance mate
Budgie  72 points - 1/12/2013

I received my Radjet 800 from the UK warehouse in the post yesterday. From the included manual I see there is no advice on Throws, D/R or Expo etc. Can someone give me advice on this. Also, there is a lot of talk about the C of G in the manual being too far forward. Where should the C of G be please ?
 throttleman2001 13 points
Hi Budgie, I have the Radjet & I have the following settings for CoG & throws. CoG is approx 25 mm further back than the Manual suggests & my throws are 20M.M. total on elavator Max & likewise for aileron 30% Expo on both.I am using a Zippy 2200 Xthin 25c. When I had the stock motor in with this it was stable & not over fast, I now have upgraded to 277 watts motor on the same CoG & same Battery & is a grin from ear to ear flying experience 3/4 throttle verticle hand launches
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Budgie 72 points
Thanks Throttleman, I'll give those settings a try. I'm going to keep it stock to start with and then I might go for more power and poke etc.
steven  24 points - 1/9/2013

Well it came next day delivery from uk site looked great once put together , 1st flight not enough power to get it into the air or not enough breeze and glided to ground quit gentle prop must have touched the ground and the bell motor shaft snapped so brined the motor ordered anther from hk just hope next outing it takes off , it just needed a better motor I think.
 H-KING_SCOTT 5238 points
I hate to say it but it sounds as if the prop was on the wrong way round...common mistake, this plane will just fly out of your hand if set up correctly....make sure you have a few clicks of up elevator wise for the maiden and do NOT go with a forward C of G.

 steven 24 points
Scott prop on the right way sorry as iv used pushers for a long time but I've now put an old second hand bell motor and 6x4 prop and it flys great but thanks for your info.

This is what you can do with a 1200 watt setup.

hi there, what does it mean by "Requires: 4 Channel TX/RX with elevon mixing 1300mAh 3s Lipoly" thanks.
 H-KING_SCOTT 5238 points
It means you will need to supply your own Radio which in turn must be minimum 4 channel and must have elevon mixing....it also mean you must supply your own battery to get it flying....which leads me to the next point...I am guessing you are maybe a newbie? If so....this plane is not for you.
stuart  4 points - 12/11/2012

Can you use 3cell 2200 battery in these
 Ben S 7 points
You can, but some cutting required as you'll need to move it back a little to get the CG right. 1300 3s or less can usually just sit at the back of the space provided.

PLEASE HELP: How do you tighten the prop to the motor shaft? Mine just goes round in circles!!!
 carterdan 1656 points
Hi Tsangbou, try holding the prop and prop adapter still with your hands whilst tightening the end of the prop with a small screw driver inserted through the hole.

Hope that helps
 tsangbou 85 points
i tried but its very loose. i even tried to stop motor spinning around whilst trying to screw it in.

sorted thanks. Had to grease the thread and tighten hole before inserting on the shaft.

I bought one of these from HK site, and despite box being battered, inside there was no damage at all. Unfortunately, gentle crash on first launch (not enough throttle I think) and motor shaft snapped at the bell, so had to bin it. Very surprised/disappointed. Replaced motor and now fly's great. I intend to FPV it, already done some on-board footage and it's great, youtube search fpvjersey for onboard footage.

Well packed, despite packaging being damaged, the contents were completely undamaged. Build is very easy (took longer for glue to dry than build) and used some fibre tape to protect leading edge. First launch resulted in a crash, and motor shaft snapped. Very disappointed! Had to cut out motor mount cover (not too hard) to replace motor. Now runs great, swinging a 6x4 prop. Have bought this to FPV. Have used with a keychain camera and it flew just fine. Glide is insane! Totally overshot first approach. Launches are a doddle so long as you use plenty of power. Arrived quickly , built even quicker , balanced perfect with a 7 ch optima rec puched down the middle and a 3s 1300 pack as far back as possible , hand launch at full throttle and staying full for 5 mins uses 700mha , very stable in the current winds and a real blast to fly , cheap and I recon , brilliant . Have ordered a 4s 1300 nano pack to try next :)

Ordered Thursday arrived Monday, well packaged and very easy to assemble. I have maidened it today and it flys great, it even handled about 15mph winds with relative ease. COG is about 15mm further back from what factory states so just remove a bit of foam (i use a hot knife) and push the battery back as far as possible. A good fun and easy plane to fly but not quite as fast as I expected. The internet states that stock esc can handle a 4cell 1300 and it goes like a rocket. Time to order some I think. Dont delay buy it today!!!! (when its in stock)

Bought the kit version from Hong Kong depot and had for sometime while I modified. Now running Turnighy 2836-3700kv motor on 3s with 80 Amp T Plush ESC, 6x4.5 prop on a steel wing motor mount. AUW 0.6kg with 2200mAh battery. Pulls 750 Watts and boy does this baby shift! Does not look quite as sleek as the original but no one will see that - a real competitor for other brand larger versions. Will take 4s on this set up but 1200 Watts is the next step...
