purchased this with turnigy 2100kv and programming card, allwas good except setup took too long but performance was ok until i arrived at the track and after about 10 minutes my losi 2.0 went up in a big cloud of smoke damaging the body. i then returned to hobbyking and yes they returned my ball of melted stinky esc to Hongkong then weeks later creditted in points on my account only cost of esc no shipping both ways, so im out that and i own a programming card for nothing, these suck ass, and support too.
same thing happen to my stock esc and servo of my turnigy DB.. asking me to send as RMA.. which is exactly opposite of their warranty policy flashed every time costumers are logged on to HK.they should do something about this things..

so the Hobby king 24hr support center sucks ass, I asked them what size the bullet connectors are for the ESC, and they said 5mm... when they are 4mm.. thanks for wasting my money SCOTT/support guy #7.. I hate you so much right now.
i have this esc on my tmaxx (bl conversion) and today it caught on fire. No joke, i was bashing on a 4cell 30c battery and it started smoking. Pulled the body off and it was on fire. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whats with this thing... I ran it all last year on three and four cell, no problems. It says its ok with five cells so I bought two five cells and a smaller pinion, oh I have a Hyper 7 ofna buggy I e converted and I am running the turnigy trackstar 2650kv motor with it. Anyways its silly fast. But I ran it through a small puddle, didn't see it till it was to late. Now its got no foreward or reverse, steering servo still works and the fan still works, it just has no go anymore. Is there a automatic shutoff and or short circuit protection on this thing or something? When turned on the green led is on solid. Anyone have any ideas?
turns out that this thing has short circuit protection, if it gets a bit wet it shuts down. A green LED turns on. good to know that its not dead, as soon as it was dry it worked again. So I guess I will have to waterproof it somewhat just to be safe. We snow rally crossed many times this winter and all I had to do to the rig is use a clear plastic salad container that has a lid that snaps on. Cut the bottom out of it and tuk tape it on the chasis and voila, no more snow all over your electronics.
Hey guys. I just recieved this esc and I cant get reverse. I have a Turnigy programming box and have tried just about every option I can think of that would affect it. It really has me stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For anyone having trouble calibrating this ESC.
Just found another way to do it. The manual says hold and keep pressed the button on the on-off switch. For me this was wrong. Press the button after every action. So turn on, press the button once, go to full throttle, wait. Press the button again, go to full brake, wait. Press the button again, go to neutral, wait. Turn off. Then it should be calibrated.
Arrived three days ago wired up me TT st1 with the Turnigy 160a Esc and Turnigy 2100kv brushless motor in one day but can't get the Esc to program followed the instructions to a T. After calibrating the transmitter I turn off and back on the LED on the Esc blinks red & green and won't let me program any further. Has anyone got some advice?
I found the problem, it was when I bought the Esc the web page said 3~5s so I got a 5s LiPo to go with it then after weeks of emails with HK they said it will only take up to 4s LiPo (to much power from the 5s LiPo was the problem) I was hoping for my TT ST1 brushless conversion to do wheel stands.
Ok I had isolated the problem which had caused many of us to experience smoked and fire experience. Bought the 3rd Turnigy 160A ESC and it just smoked. Twice smoked, once a really bad fire which chared everything. So, the cause is - Dual Circuit-Board design failure where the two boards are connected via a detachable multi-pin connector and it will saperate during certain levels of impact causing the FETs cooking up to the point of violent ignition. A quick solution/prevention for this is to create a brace which keep the two halves together or I suggest HK to redesign it to brace itself better. I see that there are soldered pins which kept the boards from completely saperating and all it needs is another soldered pin near the connectors to keep it from disconnecting.
i have this esc with the trunigy 2100 kv motor
when i plugged the battery smoke came up
then i plug a 3s batt with no motor no smoke came but when i pluged the motor and apply some little throttle some small smoke came up
i dissassmebled the esc and reassembled it and pluged the 3s batt with the motor and applied throttle no smoke came up whats up with that?
i believe its fualty connections if you have any connection loose it will give a spark between the space thats keeping it from a solid clean connection which may been corrected when you reassembled it.
just received mine today, if you look in the picture it's like a hobbywing sc8-120A but it's not it is bigger a little bit heavier and bigger capacitor too. lighter than hobbyking 150A. it is only for sensorless motors. try it tonight and will see what this esc can do. i'll write back.

Help me with I need a manual card progam of this ESC. I have read many times but still can not use it ESC 150A was the test with 4047-2000kv motor work effectively and well on 4s. I have not tried working with the 5s because the motor is 4s
I run this in my jammin scrt10 and it is a verry good esc but mine did not work with a 5cell lipo.did work with a 3cell.i was verry upset that they said it woild work and it did not.beside that it is a verry esc.i will say one thing, i recomened getting this but DO NOT run it with a 5 cell. It will not work!!!
