Can this be used in the arm joint to rotate the complete arm of a small humanoid robot?
 Santhosh 186 points
Yes..the maximum angular movement is 210 degrees..ofcourse you can hack it to 360 degrees. 0.5mS - 0 degree and 2.5mS - 210 degrees.

can I run a 6 volt lifo battery to power these things? or will they melt?
 Santhosh 186 points
Yes you can run the servo at 6V.. Do you mean from LiFe battery...these batteries are 6.6V and not 6V...it may fry the servo.. Use a BEC to run the servo from LiFe
David  7 points - 3/15/2013

Paul Eric  2 points - 2/23/2013

are these servos Twin bearings? like HXT 5010?
 Santhosh 186 points
No they donot have any bearing in them..They have only nylon gears lubricated with white grease..
Birger  3 points - 2/1/2013

bought 3 of these and they work like my other servos that cost 3 time as mutch.
Hurley  194 points - 1/24/2013

I bought 2 of these for my new 30cc sbach for the throttle and the choke. For the choke it works great. But not for the throttle. It jumps around at idle. and if when you throttle up and back down it does not come back to the same place. so it NOT good to us for the throttle. I put a power HD in its place. So I don't know if I just got a bad one. I tryed to see if would center for a Aileron and it did not come back to the same place! So it is ****!! So I will not buy again!!
 Santhosh 186 points
I have 4 servos..and all are the best....its your bad luck you got a faulty one...
 Hurley 194 points
I guess I'm just used to nice servos!

will HK15138 standard servo work with the HK6S Tx/Rx radio system? Is it a standard size servo or one of the small ones? And will it work with my Bill Winter Le Crate high wing airplane ( electric powered, 58in. wingspan, approx. 38-44 oz. weight)
 jacky 11 points
oui ce servo est de taille standard et fonctionne tré*s bien avec HK6s

This servo is good for a brusless engine at 50A 11.4v lipo 3s ?
 sidd232 646 points
sure you can use it, it will work regardless the motor, esc or battery because it is powered by your receiver, this receiver will receive from 4.6 to 6 volts from the bec either external or built-in in the esc.
 Leandro 14 points
O servo é* relacionado ao peso e tamanho de seu modelo. lembrando que ele suporta aproximadamente 4 kilos
 Santhosh 186 points
Sure...these are the cheap and powerful servo available in the market...I use three servos on my coro plane with a 50A ESC - 11.1V 3S LiPo.
ajay  1 points - 12/15/2012

hi can anyone tell me.. what kind of pulse to be applied on this servo..i mean the PWM control signal for 0 to 180 degrees(tell the pulse width and frequency), kindly let me know the wire connections as well with wire color...
 ncx94 6 points
Hi, for the wirings: brown is ground (0V) red is phase (5-6V) orange is signal (PWM pulses) Concerning the signal: pulses in microseconds. 500 for 0°*, 2500 for 180°* Hope it helps, Nick
 Santhosh 186 points
Actually tested using a PIC microcontroller the travel is 500uS pulse for 0 degree and 2500uS for a 210 degree . 1500uS or 1.5mS for center
 Santhosh 186 points
The frequency is 50Hz...donot use a hardware PWM..as such low frequencies are not possible ..instead use interrupts...
 ncx94 6 points
in fact, yes, hardware PWM is to fast ^^ Thank for this precisions

very good servo, I am using a p-40 glow engine 0.46
 NewToHobbyKing 6321 points
Thanks nice to know. I bought cheapies else and in side were held in place with tape. What does "Standard Analog Servo" mean. I see most servos are digital?
 ricardo 29 points
A digital servo is the difference in how the received signals from the receiver are processed and, in turn, controlling the initial power to the servo motor, reducing downtime, increasing the accuracy and generating a greater force. In Futaba futaba-rc****/servos/digitalservos.pdf site has a great explanation of the digital servos

*DeteH... you mean kg.cm not kg/cm (I can't figure out why my replies appear as new posts even though I hit the Reply button under the post I want to reply to grrrrrr)
hells angel  101 points - 12/5/2012

very good servo and also very cheap..works very well with 1/10 desert buggy..
Jim  1 points - 12/2/2012

(And celioadilson clearly doesn't understand the difference between force and torque, nor for that matter between mass and force *) )
 NewToHobbyKing 6321 points
Well I find that if I Force it to hard, I have to Talk, to a Mass, of people to get it fixed!! HaHa.
Jim  1 points - 12/2/2012

*Ulf I'm not sure if this is going to post as a reply to your question or as a new question.... My understanding of these things (from what I've seen on other web sites) is that when a small servo's torque is given as "kg" that actually means "kg cm". Apart from the fact that kg is mass not force, kg cm at least gives the right force times distance dimensions and the scale gives a number with a reasonable order of magnitude. HTH? Jim
Ulf  2 points - 11/28/2012

"kg" is not a unit for torque, the SI unit is Nm, so what is the torque of this servo?
 DeteH 47 points
The Kg figure is given at a distance of 1 cm from the center of the output arm. So 3.8 kg/cm
Ulf  2 points - 11/27/2012

The "torque" for the servo is given in kg, but kg is not a unit for torque. The SI unit for torque is Nm, but I kind of doubt that this servo delivers 4.3 Nm... so what is it?
 celioadilson 19 points
Hi ULF. The 4.3kg means the force that the servo can handle. This kind of servo generally they are used to ailerons and rudder. For car steering, it is required a high torque servo, 15kg and above. So when you see torque actually is the force that servo can handle.
Dave  1 points - 11/20/2012

new to the game is this servo good w hobby king gt-2 trnsmitter i just bought for boat
 PowerPer 2 points
It works well, be careful not to get water into the servo.
Ebiker  160 points - 11/18/2012

Always using these on car. Little slower but reliable servo. One year bashing on two Troopers and no fail yet.
Mitza  2 points - 10/31/2012

is 180 grades or less??
 mirceacul 169 points
It's 180 grades from what I have seen. You should increase the percent over 100pcnt on the TX for the channel you are using with this servo.
 Gary 2961 points
This type of servo normally travels to a maximum of 160 degrees. With 100% set then nearer 120 degrees.
 Karl- 3 points
Normally this servos would have a 160 degrees of travel. however, if your transmiter has the capability, it can increase the servo travel to as much as 180 degrees. The Turnigy 9x will provide that capability for you across all its chanels.
Ebiker  160 points - 10/19/2012

mica, thank you for your report and suggestion I will act on your advice. You have a nice day and safe flying..VIV274
 prof.ssa Donatella 2 points
I bought 14 of these servos and I think you can easily find a replacement gear kit.
 Fabio 5 points
For the price of the servo, I do not waste any time in changing any of the internal components.

Is this a good servo for 3D ?
 smartguy 268 points
For 3D? i thick you need a faster servo.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 crashd 103 points
they're not the fastest in the world and occasionally don't like to center quickly. Viewer discretion is advised :)
 Cameron 6 points
Defenetly. For 3D u need max agility, and for that u need fast servos. Think of it this way, if u were in the passenger seat of a car going at a reasonable speed, put ur arm out the window with ur hand flat. then slowly twist ur hand. ur arm wil start to move. for 3D (agility) you need to move ur hand fast. This servo would move slow.
 mica 16 points
i would say a faster servo would be beter, best not to skimp on 3d control surfaces
 prof.ssa Donatella 2 points
This type of servo is great however it's abilities are a little bit restricted and I recommend for a 3D you should buy a faster servo.

I bought a bunch of these for my 40". There is so much play on them the ailerons literally flap around
dale  1 points - 2/18/2012

will they work with a hk gt2 2.4ghz rx&tx ?
 Shura 122 points
Any servo will work with any RX and TX. You can buy it.
 Kellyann 16220 points
dale yes it works very very well with it. I hope this helps
 Dimosthenis 2 points
Yes it will! I've tried it myself! It is very good for rudder and throttle!
 S2K Matt 64 points
It will work great.
 Railcrew 41 points
This is a very good servo for such a low cost,I am currently operating about 20 of these servos in a variety of aircraft and you can use them with any system.
davidt  13 points - 2/7/2012

anyone notice a lot of free play on the gears.and jitter with a small load. i,m using 7.2 volts.
 Chriso 12 points
actually its a good servo that u can buy but it has a bit of free play also your voltage is high
 TeslaBEM 36 points
Yep, It's because of the voltage. This servos work smoothly on 5-6v
 davidt 13 points
tried it under 6v, same thing. wonder if it,s the dsm2 orange receiver i,m using. hitec servos work fine.
 Railcrew 41 points
Works great with 4.8 volts,These servos are slowly replacing my futaba s3003's Great servo for a very low price, I think I have purchased about 40 so far and intend to buy more in future.
 keiliekiller 11 points
Yes, it has much play in the gear but the price is great!
