Dear Hobbyking lovers and followers, i have now some flys done with my monster mini swift. today i test my 3s setup: 1x 3s 850mah nanotech http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp ?idProduct=11899 1x 12A Hobbyking ESC http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp ?idProduct=11429 1x AX 1806N 2500kv Brushless Micro Motor (19g) http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp ?idProduct=5432 I have to say that my mini swift done vertical climbing actions without any problems. it is combied with a 5 x 3" prop from graupner and i also tested the original one (drilled up the shaft for the new motor) and it is a realy crazy thing in the air. I love it. Loopings, screw flying all this actions during the vertical climbing are possible. The new setup will also be uploaded in some days where i will show you my whole plane. I have added a little DDR cooling element on the cooling side of the ESC for better performance. And it does not get more than hand warm durring a 5 min. on 100% throotle. I can fly for around 9-10 min during 100% throttle with this 32 850mah battery.
I know NOTHING about controls, transmitters etc.
So could anyone help me? i want to buy this.. but im not sure what rx/tx means or where i can get it, or even.. how i can set it up.. ill be glad if anyone helps :)
Hobbyking sells transmitters. Check the "Radios and Receivers" section.
Something like the turnigy 9X or the hobbyking ones would work.
Make sure to get one that includes module and receiver or don't forget to get them as separate parts.
The forums on google should have plenty of info for setting it up.
ich fliege mit 2S1P 350mAh, geht sehr steil in den Himmel, Umbau auf zwei Querruderservos mit Querruder-Klappen-Mischer auch sehr langsam, damit ist auch punktgenaues Landen mö*glich, ein super immer - dabei Flieger
Der wird viel zu schwer sein.
Ich habe selbst mit meinem 800er Probleme das Ding richtig steigen zu lassen. Der Motor ist leider ein wenig schwach auf der Brust.
wie Markus schon erwä*hnt hat ist es selbst mit einem 800er Grenzwertig. Der Schwerpunkt kommt zu weit vor und das Gewicht ist auch zu hoch (40g mehr als ein 460er)
Empfehlung Rhino 460 oder Zippy 500
Fliege den mit einem 2s1000. der passte nach ein wenig Schnitzarbeit so grade rein und muss dann nach mö*glichkeit drin bleiben. 1000 mah reichen aber auch fü*r eine gewisse flugzeit. von dem originalmotor mü*sste man sich dann aber trennen. Empfehlen wü*rde ich das ganze nicht
Hi, jap, der passt super rein. Einfach den Schutz vom orange weg machen, dann hast du noch etwas mehr platz im Flieger. Hab ihn auch drin und geht wunderbar.
Mahlzeit. Erst mal Servo-Ausschläge auf 65pcnt reduzieren und noch 20-30pcnt Expo reinhaun. Dann hab ich noch das Gefühl, dass der Original Motor es einfach nich bringt. Der Swift will schon bissel flott geflogen werden. Ich hab den Fehler gemacht und nach dem Werfen auf halbgas runter. Wird aber so nix. Am besten mit vollgas durchpowern. Zum gleiten etc kannst schon bissel runter gehn, aber für kurven etc bitte wieder gas geben.
Ich hab mir jetz diesen Motor bestellt, der soll gut abgehn. ^^ AX 1806N
Ich habe den flieger so gelassen, wie er ist als original Motor, Servos. Der schwerpunkt liegt bei mir 27mm von der flügelvorderseite entfernt, Ich fliege übrigens mit einer ready to run Fernsteuerung, das heißt, ohne Mischer etc.
Hi ordered this nice little plane when the last batch reached Germany at the en of June. I just noticed that Hobby king removed the crash kit from the package. As this was done after my order (I still have the confirmation email and the paypal bill to prove it) I strongly hope that they will send me the crash kit (yeah after one week it has not be sent yet...). If they don't I will just cancel the payment with paypal...

yes same here, I asked to get a 20$ refund to match the price of the plane alone in the other warehouse. Still wainting for their answer...and still not getting this parcel sent...
Me the same! The hold the order and asked if I want the upgradet version. No info about less parts in actual box. There is no more crash kit inside now! I got my swift today. Smaler box without crash kit! Sorry HK, so you'll lose costumer...
They have been stocked regularly in the past, but no clue when the next shipment arrives. Either contact them via email to ask, or use the STOCK ARRIVAL ALERT ... :-(
It's a joyful toy, but absolutly not for beginners!!!! Standard setup (with 450mh 3s) is too heavy for thermal. Tried in slope with soft dynamic with 20 min flightime. Proper light setup of crash kit (no rudder, only one lipo) may thermal.
i used this great glider on the slope on 30kmh high wind! a dream! soaring in thermal up winds up to 40min on the slope! then i have to pee:) for sure its not the right glider for only thermal on a field but right when u have a hill in reach.
Make sure the throttle is set all the way, then back down. Worked for me. Be carefull though. Also try setting the trim pot as low as possible and see if that fixes it. Seems to be picky if it's not zero.
Next you could check out the cables, try connecting the servo plug to another channel (watch out though) or even another ESC to make sure.
On the HK warehouse based item you will find the manual under the files tab (Product number 11306, url of manual http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/
so in the 101g all that's missing is battery and RX. So let's say it's going to be something like 170g with the 800mAh Lipo or something like 140g with the 350mAh lipo ? The wings look something in the order of 6mdq: thats going to work out something of the order of 25g/dmq. Is that kind of wing loading good for soaring ?
continues 6A boost 7A. with stock motor its no problem. also with the upgrade motor : AX-1806N-2500 Brushles Motor you can still use the stock esc
then it will climb vertical with no problems.

What you asking mate? Can it run on a 3s? The answer is yes, the esc will handle it, but you must make sure to get the Center of gravity right with the heavier battery- also, the motor will get VERY hot during flight- so maybe think about upgrading it to this one: 'AX-1806N2500' with a 12 or 15A esc... nie wieder hobbyking. hab den miniswift im d-warehouse gekauft. ezwei servos waren defekt, regler nicht brauchbar. nach inzwischen 3 monatigem streit ist hobbyking nicht mal in der lage mir meinen eingeschickten artikel zurü*ck zu senden. geld weg, flieger weg. nur ä*rger!
attention si vous avez un probl?*me avec hobby ne comptez pas sur la guarantie, j'ai re?*u un swift avec un servo d?*fectueux cela fait 3 mois que je les contacte pour qu'il me le remplace !!! ne pas achetez chez eux a fuir careful if you have a problem with hobby do not count on the warranty, I received a swift with a faulty servo that's three months that I contact them to replace it myself! not to buy a home escape
I have had good experiences from HobbyKing in the main, but even I gave up with my backorder for the swift from the DE warehouse and received a full paypal refund with no hassle.

Hi BigJack, sorry for the website, I presumed it would be there. I hunted around a bit more and actually found the cutoff on the manufacturers website. The ESC can be programmed for 'Low' 'Medium' or 'High' cutoff voltages. I guess you're using a lithium battery so here goes: Cutoff voltage is calculated per each individualy cell of the battery. So Low Cutoff Voltage = 2.85V (per cell) Medium cutoff voltage = 3.15V (per cell) High Cutoff voltage = 3.3V (per cell). SO, For a 3 cell lithium pack, when “*Medium”* cutoff voltage threshold is set, the
cut-off voltage of the battery pack will be: 3.15 x 3 = 9.45V.

is anybody running this plane as pure sailplane? Or does center of gravity not fit when removing motor and just placing a Rx-battery in the nose?

its possible to fly it as a pure sailplane but you have to do a lot more than just replace the motor by the rx try it by centering the CG in 1/3 of the wing chord, counting it form the front! try to glue the spinner in the front to mantain the aerodinamics!
Accidentally, I did (propeller hub broke in flight).
If you keep the balacing point (CG) where it is supposed to be (about 1/3 back from the leading edge of the wing), it will sail. Adding weight will incrase speed, but also stability in higher winds.
Could be NEVER? I ordered mine on 17.1.2010 (Yes January this year) Support says i will come next month every time i asked.
Thats the only order with problems, all other orders came in time.

I think end of sept i give up, because the flight season is over then...
I' order 1 for my father in law in december LAST Year -> still not arrived. The had it some times at the international warehouse during this endless time. I think the don't want to send it to germany. The change the arrival date 2 times each month, since december last year. Next summer I will give up... As everybody know, you can buy only the items in stock or you have to wait. And nobody knows how long. For the 3020 and G32 motors I waited more than 6 MONTH, not 30 days ....
hard to measure inside the canopy. rhino 2s 610 mah (size 52x10x30mm) fits perfectly and it is the best setup from moderate to hard wind, and it flies more scale like. Without wind my favorite choice is with rhino 360 mah, 10 min flights and a very light setup, just 119 grs

There is no charger in the kit as the charger type depends on the battery type you use. If you use a 350-500 mAH 2S Lipo battery, any Lipo charger will do the job. I would recommend using a Lipo charger with integrated balancer function. Do not take a NiMH charger as this will probably fire up your battery.
This little bugger is perfect for backyard flying. Shipping from German Warehouse is really fast. I ordered it on Wednesday and the postman delivered it on Friday. i Testflown it on Saturday, Fly perfect, time to completion about 1 hour. the only thing to mention is the fitting of the spinner i mounted some spacers (4mm) between the motor and the backplate to get the spinner aligned to the fuselage now i have a cooling slot direct in front of the motor. a 30mm Spinner would fit perfectly. i ordered one to test it. ive got about 12 minutes flight time with a 2s 500mah ZIPPY Flightmax LiPo (partially half throttle flown). flight weight is about 138g really fine. didn't measure the current yet. I will update when i receive the spinner make some tests with different props.
